Todd, you will get some excellent advice on here from BCB ans well as several of the owners. My suggestion would be to switch to solid plugs or at least the smaller holes.None of these changes should affect top end but will drastically change take off, blow out, etc.
Email them to Judd.He da man!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!Excellent boat and a beautiful color scheme! Those BCBs catch fish, too!
Lee, you have made the right decision in my book to grab the Opti. I have owned Mercs for years and the EFI engines are terrific but to be honest, for just a couple of extra dollars you can have a warranty that lasts for years and in my case, outlasts my ownership of my boats. The extra fuel economy and extra resale value of the Opti are free percs as the extended warranty alone is worth more that the price differential.Enjoy your Cat, I know I do!
In my opinion, no security, alarm, Lock-R-Bar, lock, etc., will stop a serious, well trained thief, but that is not usually who rips off boats in a parking lot. As Phil, BCB, and Judd have stated most folsk who rip off tackle arent exactly the cream of the crop, are looking for a quick few bucks and the alarm will usually send them down the highway quickly. Here is a story of a “real” thief. Back in the late 60s or so, my uncle have an inline Merc and I believe it was a six cylinder on the back of a small runabout. He kept it at his dock floating during the week and would come to his lake cabin each weekend. One night, some thief or thieves, unbolted the engine, cut the cables, and stole the engine “with the boat still floating in the dock”. Thye had to do this from another boat or something floating as the boat was facing the bank. Now those are real, serious thieves.
Floridaj, if the area that is dulling is the waterline or mid-section of the L/U, then Phil is exactly right. Clean that area ASAP when you pull the boat out. In our area, we have very hard water with a lot of limestone in our area and we are constantly battling this issue.Another little trick that I use is after I clean the mid-section, I spray it with some WD-40. That seems to help it look almost as good as new.
Phil, be VERY careful running that lake! There are several sections where the lake is wide and the channel itself is fine but just a few feet out of the channel is shallow water and wood or laydowns under the water.Get yourself a good lake map and FOLLOW THAT CHANNEL!This is a very good lake for fishing. You will catch several nice bass and a lot of keepers.I sent you an email with my phone number. Feel free to call for more fishing info.Have a blessed day!Alan JohnsonLou. KY
Milt,I do not know if it is the same on your Opti, but I had an EFI engine and the one-way pressure valve that is located on the side of the engine block would stick open, not alowing the pressure to fill the small tank.
Mark, I think you will find the Tempest may give a nod at best top end speed and the vent plugs will make no difference at WOT.
Really sharp!
SHARP BOAT…..and interesting as heck to see the progressive photos.Heck, I am a bass fisherman and I want a Bay Cat, too!
Thanks Rob,I can taste those shrimp pancakes with blueberry syrup right now! LOLWill take your advice and check those places out.
MBJ,Your speedo should be just fine once you re-attach the tube.
Thoughts and prayers to you, your fallen friend, and his family.
I have been using Vicious Flourocarbon line exclusively now for one full season both in light weight lines for spinning tackle to the heavier lines for baitcasters and am very impressed so far.For shaky heads I use either 6 or 8 pound test with excellent results.
