Dempsy is a excellent man to deal with. He helped me out alot with choosing a prop. Bought one from him and wouldnt hesitate to buy another one from him in the future. Thanks Dempsy,Chris
I can help you out a little bit. A three blade prop will hold more rpms than a four blade. You may want to try a 25p Tempest but you should be able to turn the 25p four blade with no problem. I heard the same thing your saying from another guy around here. He had a Skeeter with 225EFI Merc and he would have a hard time loading it up on the trailer. I have a Pro XB 250 with a 27p Tempest. The top end speed was good with it (around 80 gps) but would constantly “fight” the steering wheel. I tried a 27p Trophy and the top end speed was slower (around 75-76 gps) but I wasnt having to “fight” the steering wheel. That is one of the downfalls of hydraulic steering.Chris
If you go with the Teflon glides make sure to leave your winch hooked to your boat until you launch it into the water. I seen a guys boat come off his trailer while he was getting back into the water. He had the Teflon on his bunks but he was very lucky because his boat is aluminum. Id hate to see what would happen to a fiberglass boat if it fell off the trailer onto a concrete ramp.Chris
finder123,Did you just buy the PII? If youre from Lake Charles Im the one you talked to at the store with the black Cougar. You could try a 25p Tempest but youd have to buy a hub kit for it if its a Flo-Torq hubbed prop. The Tempest and maybe a 25p Yamaha Pro Series would be a good prop on your set-up.Chris
Not sure but if you could get a hold of one it would be worth a shot. If its hub for a Merc I dont think it will slide on the shaft of a Johnson. Youd have to get it re-hubbed. Give me a call if you need anything, leave a message because I work shift work and dont have my phone on me at work.513-8553 Chris
Id try the 24p Trophy by Mercury first. You may have to go to a 25p though. Ive heard the Yamahas have alot of low end torque which means usually you can turn a big wheel out of the hole easier.Chris
The difference between a regular Tempest and a Tempest Plus is the thickness of the blades. The original Tempest props are harder to find because people who have them hold on to them. They are suppose to be a little faster on top end because they have thinner blades than the Plus. Chris
Boat will be at Toledo Bend Memorial Day and the day after, call me if you wanna look at it or take a ride. Thanks, Chris
Im not sure why they dont list them on NADA. They were built by Mercury Racing from 2000-2003, they called them 250s but i have heard they have about 270hp at the propshaft.
Yep that is it, thanks for posting it. Chris
Have you tried posting this on the main BassCat board? Youll probably get a faster answer there, i would think a 26p Tempest would be what you need. Phil Addison should be able to lead you in the right direction also, check out his website. http://www.impactfishing.com
