I am running 24 Fury on my Sabre FTD 175 Pro SX. That thing will run faster than I can drive it. After 65 it will walk. Have tried most everything to control the walk. Fill live wells to get more weight to the rear etc. Real pleased with the Fury. Hole shot good, mid range good and it will run with tournament load. John
I am not able to fish this tournament where can I find the results? John
I wish I could make both tournament, but sometimes things happen that we have no control over. Would like to see Tommy and give him a hard time. I bet he doesnt sell a lot of boat in Austin. It was a very good buying experience. Best looking Sarbre ever. John
I think you guys have fixed my problem. I am running a 24 in Fury unpluged. It is running with out a rooster tail. I weigh about 175 lbs. the guys I fish with are 220 and 250. You add 45 to 75 lbs. to the passenger side and it will lean to the left on take off. I guess I will have to put them on a diet or find skinner fishing partners. Thanks, John
I will not get to the Classic. Will you have U-Tube stuff of the boats at the Classic show. I hope. John
Trapper13 – I have a Sabre FTD with a 175 pro sx. I really like the layout. You are right about being on the front of the boat but you get better sight and better casting angles. You dont have to worry about hitting the guy in the back with a spook. You should not compare a 18 foot boat to a 21 foot boat. If you compare a 188 inch Ranger to a 181 inch Sabre compare cost, quality, and performance I would take the Sabre every time. Not taking anything away from the Rangers they are fine boats. The Sabre FTD in rated 175 the Vision is 150. I went with the FTD because of what I thought the resale would be. The boat will run with a lot of 20ft boats. I am sure that you can find someone in your area that will take you for a ride. The boat fishes great and like I said it will get up and go when you need too. The stripper pole is a good thing to have. John
Muddywaters, go to page 3 and there is a good bit on Sabre 175 and prop selections. Oldtimer57 has good words to say. We are all chasing the rabbet. I am runnig the 24 furry. John
Now I have been schooled! Thanks, John
Jeffhavey2, go to page 2, Got the Sabre out yesterday. There are bunch of Sabre guys chasing the rabbit. Some have 175s some 150″s, but that might get you started. I am running a 24 Fury on a 175 pro sx. When and if I ever learn how to drive it the thing will really run. I just need oldtimer57 to come give me driving lessons. There is lots of knowledge out there and a lot of Sabre guys that are more than willing to help. John
Man if you want to see that kind of stuff you need to come to Lake Austin. It is a river lake not very wide where there is lots of money and lots big boats, and crazy kids with there dad boat. You only fish it is the winter when it is too cold for the kids to get out. You can forget about fishing it in the summer. Of course now that there is no gress in the lake it went from one of the best lakes in the country to where nobody holds a trounament on it. What a loss. Grass carp are the death of a lake. John
oldtimer57, You the man.
Oldtimer57 you need to quit embarrassing people with that BCPC. Maybe he did not have GPS or did not know what it was.
Would like to get my Sabre FTD with a 175 Pro sx up in the 70+ GPs range but due to family health problem I have not had the time to run it. About 65, 67 starts to walk. One of these day I hope to have the time to really run it. It feels like it has more left in her. Oldtimer57 love reading your stuff. John
cajunhunter67, Could you e-mail me at [email protected], I have question about your setup. I am running a 24p fury. John
In 2011 I had the same problem. I needed something that would pull my boat and that I could travel in. I had a Dodge PU 1500 with a 350. Went with a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4 with a 5.7L V8. I think it will pull anything you could want. Would put it up against most trucks. I have a Sabre FTD with a 175 Pro SX pulls like a dream. Dont skimp on getting something that will pull the boat you want. You will always want something bigger. If you want to move up to a bigger boat you will be fixed up.
