Thanks for the info Wheelman. Glad to be here! Your rig seems to be the same as mine, the FTD DC. What great boats the Sabre’s are. They are so fun to drive and fish from. I was leaning towards going up a 1/4 inch to 3.25. But hearing so many people say they had their engines lower on their boats gave me some pause on the decision. Yeah the Etec can turn up to 6K so I’d like to get closer to that at WOT. Appreciate the input.

I have experience with some older Zukes in the 115 and 140hp ranges. They were absolutely bullet proof and amazing engines. The fuel economy was fantastic, never needed anything other than routine maintenance, and always fired when I turned the key. Granted I don’t know if the performance of a Suzuki is going to be on par with a Pro XS or SHO but if reliability and fuel economy is of more importance to you than true all out performance I think the Suzuki is worth considering, 100%.

FWIW, I have a 2017 Sabre FTD with an ETEC G2  150 hp and am seeing similar numbers (close to 60). I have an Ultrex too and 1 small unit up front and am 3.5 inches PTP. My aim has been to move items in the boat around each time out to find the best balance of speed and usability. I think almost any Sabre can be likely stretched out to 65mph but at what cost. I have made my peace with running slightly behind 19 and 20 footers with 200’s knowing I’m more maneuverable, agile, and can routinely get into places they can’t all while using significantly less fuel. I love my Sabre!
