If your not fishing somewhere this weekend start planning a trip this week and you should get here!We have been co-hosting a Plano and Arkansas Tourism writers conference on the lake which began today. There were abut 8 boats involved from all angles of striper, crappie, bass and tomorrow walleye. They caught hundreds of fish today! The event is taking place out of Mockingbird Bay Resort at the end of highway 342. It is gorgeous and well cared for as are many of the area resorts. Much like a well hidden and mini Teal Point.Today was a gorgeous day and they caught fish on top water, on the bank, in the brush and pretty much you name it. Largemouth up to 5 pounds were caught and smallmouth up to 4 pounds. Crappie action was good and stripers also. They went back out tonight to catch more stripers.Assisting as guides this week are Robert Robbins (Bass Cat), Jim Byler (Bass Cat), Nichols Guide Service (Lk Norfork Chamber), John Murray (Plano), Chad Morgenthaler (Plano), Larry Owens (Lk NF Chamber), Jason Mitchell (Yar-Craft) and a few more we dont recall. This is probably one of the best weeks the lake has seen since the cold weather. The Bass Cat staff had a real active weekend on Norfork and caught smallmouth over 4 pounds and several from 2 to 3+ pounds. One boat today estimated they literally caught 150 fish with 35 to 40 nice keepers. Its smoking and no doubt will change daily this time of year.Fish are all over the banks really shallow, surfacing early in the mornings. Spawning fish are out in areas and on spawning banks. Post spawn fish are in the dirtier (not muddy) water and biting. Its really been that good from Saturday through today.
