I’m going to try with the outer bunks 3″ out of the water, but this 2016 Caracal is not easy to trailer.  I have a 95 Classic too and it’s much easier and has a bigger margin of error.  Because of high water all year so far the ramps are steep and my nose (trolling motor) is coming up under the front roller.  Yesterday we did better by putting much less trailer in the water, but still was not coming in above the front roller.

I’m afraid of what KH59 had happen to he and his wife.  Practice and more practice I guess….  Thanks for the tips.

I just bought a 2016 Caracal and have a 225 Mercury Optimax with a 25 pitch Fury. With fuel tanks half empty and full tournament load I hit 67 and trimmed down due to chine walking.  The next day I filled up the fuel tanks and livewells and the hold shot was awful, what a dog coming out compared to my 95 Classic with 200 HP.  I’m strongly considering going with a 4 blade 24P Fury as the hole shot is really bad under load.  I’m also still adjusting the motor height on standard \ manual jack plate as my boat is throwing a rooster tail and that can’t be good.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Hole Shot Problems – Top end not a major concern — I’m running a 2016 Caracal with rear gas tanks and Merc 225 Optimax and 36 Volt Fortrex.  With the tanks full and livewell empty my hole shot is ok, not great, but ok and a bit sluggish.  With the livewells fairly full the hole shot is awful and almost won’t plane. My current prop is a Fury 25 Pitch and top end is around 71 MPH.  Again, I’m not terribly concerned about going 70 plus, but I want to get up on plane and travel around 60 to 65 MPH on a stable platform.  I’m thinking of buying a Fury 4 w/24 Pitch.  All the write ups state that is the right prop for my desired result.  Thought?  What about a 24P 3 blade?  I know four blade increase the hole shot, but some say the pitch is my issue, not the number of blades?  Any tips would be appreciated.  Thanks guys.

Update: 7/17/2019 – I bought and installed the Mercury Fury 4 4blade and wow what a difference.  Also, my previous prop was a Mercury 25 pitch, but not a Fury, it doesn’t say what “model” it is.  Now my hole shot is much better and I can drive the boat faster as the chine walk is much less than before.  Before 60 mph was starting to get hard to drive, now I can get 65 before my hands are full.  I did have the boat up to 69mph with the new prop, full tournament load, me and regular level of fill in the livewells.  I’m very happy with that.  Also, my lower unit needs the larger shaft, which is way more expensive… ouch!

Could you please provide Ronnie Gilbert’s contact information?  I’m ready to buy a new Fury 4 – 24P but need a source and would love to chat with Mr. Gilbert for a few minutes.  Thank you all for your help.

I’m running my 2016 Caracal with the Force trolling motor as well.  I too have been popping my breaker at high trolling speed and can’t seem to sort it out.  I will look at my breaker size when I get home as I think it’s indeed 50AMP, thus this would be my issue.  While I love the power my Force gives me I’m growing tired of the issues.  The bad foot pedal and the spot lock wander from time to time is irritating.  Thank you all for the help with my breaker issue, I’ll add more later.

My 2016 Caracal had the flapper broken off and laying down in the hole too.  I removed it the same way as listed above, extended tool grabber.  I notice there is fuel in the vent at the top of the cap area where you fill the tank.  That looks like it should be just air for ventilation.  My question is where is the vent tube for me to remove to remove this pressure and get back to fueling?  BTW, I bet these flappers break when we try to fuel but the pump keeps kicking off, thus we move the stupid nozzle around trying to make it go faster, then boom… it must snap that off.

@Basscat – There is no dealer close to me in Waterloo, Iowa.  Can I buy this part (gas cap part) and replace it with new?  Thanks
