Mudbone, I ordered one of the Merc covers (200 opti) and will see it later tomorrow when I make it home. I have been told it is shorter then the pic you see when you order it. I will let you know.

Mudbone, Hey, sorry I did not get back to you right away. I trailered my “new” 06 PIV from Dallas to San Antone Tuesday. Got her in the garage and been busy detailing, registration fun, and loading her up for next weeks fishing trip. Basicly playing with everything to figure the new gal out. A man, she is sweet !!! The opti cover… Took 4 days to show up in regular mail. Opened it up and it had seamtress chalk line marks and #s all over it that were very tough to scrub off. I guess I need to try cleaning them again, with something else, as they have showed back up. Did not want to get the MEK out just yet ! The opti cover does not look like the picture you see when it is ordered. It is shorter and ends at the bottom of the engine cowling. Has normal strap that connects at center lower back of cowling. Nothing goes down. When I first left on my 4 + hour trip all was snug and tight. After about 1/3 into the trip, I noticed cover appeared to raise an inch or so. I stopped and tightened it up again. It was never going to come off though. Diffently waterproof and will handle many of sticks/brush encounters. (bottom of cowling and up) Grades 1 to 10, 10 being good. Fit – 8.5 Tight and snug on the sides, seems to be a bit loose on the top, but that may be the normal? I am not sure. Inside – 9.0 Nice and soft material. If cowl and inside cover are clean, no worry about scratches when installed. Appearance- 9.0 “Mercury” white letters on both sides. Small white “M” logo on front and back. Price – 2.0 The PIV I just bought also came with a Basscat logo motor cover. Strap connection is cracked, but I will fix that and compare.Last edited by basscatsmeow on April 4th, 2008, 10:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I know Johnny has been very busy, but wanted to add, I purchased the boat earlier this week and she resides in my garage now.
kill switch was checked. batteries were checked. still same problem. problem went away when i dropped the ignition switch housing out of the dash and untwisted the severely twisted harness… there are several environmental splices there. i do not want to change them all… i think prevously, the ignition key has been turned in circles, and the key housing assembly was being turned as well. that may have damaged a splice or wire in the harness.Last edited by basscatsmeow on April 14th, 2008, 3:04 am, edited 1 time in total.
Thanks guys. I know it sounds like the kill switch, but i do not think that is it. With my kill switch “on” or “off”, turning key to the right one click, smart gages will come on. Yesterday they would not. What color is the engine “run” wire coming out of the key switch housing? I wish i had a wire diagram…. I would say maybe the ignition switch could be bad, but i think it is in one of the wire splices that had all the tension on it.
Thanks JW, email sent your way.
Thank you Thomas, for sending the print. I will get my Fluke out and do some continuity checks on the Commander 2000 key switch. If anyone is interested, here is what the continuity readings should be on the wires coming out of the ignition switch. I will be looking closely at the red and purple wires.Off – BLK and BLK/YELRun – RED and PURStart – RED and YEL/RED, YEL/RED and PUR, RED and PUR Choke – RED and YEL/BLK, RED and PUR, PUR and YEL/BLK
Here she sits ready for my first tourney at Lowes Creek at Toledo Bend.
My trailer has them and I think they are a very nice upgrade. All my bassclub fishing buddies loved them last week when they were giving my new cat a look over. Yes, they are bright. Just may help some, when you have one of those tailgaters or cell phone talkers/texters behind you.
Was thinking that trying to make it straight again…. may just weaken them more?? If I were to do it, boat will have to be in the water, I would have to be in the boat, so basschaser has the right idea.. just fish!
