The reason I asked is my fishing partner has the 23 Trophy Plus on a new (broke in) 135 Mercury; the boat is sluggish coming out but once out, the boat with the two of us and all the gear and water in the live wells, has hit 60 mph on good water ( his speedometer reading not GPS). He wondered if the 21 Trophy Plus would make a substantial improvement in the hole shot, and how much difference it could make speed wise.I read this forum; between the bass boaters and BCB staff, I wanted to see if someone might have a specific idea about the hole shot and speed issues without having to locate a 21 and putting it on. Perhaps the below information will help. He has it behind a 17 ft. Triton. He had a older Mercury 115, but could get insurance coverage on the motor/boat 135 combination so he went up to the 135 on the boat. Hes boated a lot of years and knows he cant mess around with the combination.
