Well sorry for not posting sooner.

Finally got the boat into a shop. Replaced water pump and a check valve that prevents gas from pushing it’s way back into the motor oil reservoir. Also had to locate a short in the alarm wiring that was causing the intermittent alarm sound. The shop decided to do a full tune-up and replace all hoses and remove and lubricate the steering cables. While all that may have been needed they did it without consulting me on price. OUCH! Bill was over $1,000… He said the idle was to high and adjusted that as well but could not get the dash to display the correct rpm

Took the boat out yesterday and no alarm and great water pressure. Boat seems to run really well at speed.  It does idle way lower, almost to low. I’m afraid it will die at any second in neutral. Is there a way to correct the dash to more accurately display the rpms?

What is the correct idle rpm for a 1998 Mercury 150 EFI? Dash used to display about 800rpm. He said it was more like 1000rpm. Now it is in the 450rpm range but he says it is set at about 650.

    Thanks for the input,

Here are the specifics on my boat and motor

Call or email BCB with your Hull # and they can tell you everything about your boat when it was built. I have a 1998 and they sent me my wiring diagram a few years ago.

Are you wanting to replace livewell pump or bilge? Livewell was tucked behind my fuel tank.
