I am a owner of a 05 250HP Verado that is rigged on 05 Puma. I love my BassCat boat but the engine has been nothing but trouble. I would think long and hard before I purchased another Verado engine. The engine did consume a lot of fuel during its breakin period. It has certainly leveled out in do time. The problem is it continues to “make oil”. I took it back to the dealer numerous times with no avail. They continued to tell me to watch the oil level and it would get better. Well, it has not and never will I have a lemon and makes my whole package worth nothing. I have been in many arguements with Mercury Marine over this, but they refuse to do anything. It is bad enough that you have no resale value on a good Verado, but with this one I would have to give it away and I would feel bad about giving it away, so I am stuck with it. I want this post to be no reflection of BassCat Boats because I believe they are a great company and make a great boat, but between the engine and the dealership it has left a sour taste in my mouth. Just make sure you do your homework before you purchase one.
