After fishing out of Ranger boats for years, I bought the PIV back in Mar, and love it. It is extremely stable on the larger water and will float in a mud puddle on the skinny water. I’ve been amazed at how shallow this thing will float.

I’m not familiar with the Puma, but would reccomend the PIV for a first time performance boat owner as it is extremely easy to drive, maneuvers and fish’s extremely well. Can’t testify as to how the Puma handles first hand, although I imagine it is very similiar in fishability and handling.

Hey Erik, Sorry about backing out on my boat. If I was in the market for a basscat, Id talk to Sherm from Sherms Marine. Ive talked to him a couple times and am impressed with how he does business.Hes a 2007 PIV listed on his website that might be of interest to you, and Im sure would meet you at the Owners Invitational with it. Youd have a new boat with all new warranties. His listed price is not much more than youre looking to spend, the difference would be well worth it Id think. If you can put a deal together with him before the end of Mar, youll get the Mercury extended warranty to go with it.His website is: http://www.shermsmarine.com/Good Luck and let me know what you do.

I’m running an 06 PIV with 25P Tempest and as BCB says you won’t get a lot of bow lift out this boat no matter the combination at lower speeds. Once you get up to the upper speeds, it’ll get closer to getting the bow up like you’re probably accustomed to, although I still wouldn’t expect it to run quite as high as others do.

It is a flat running hull, but runs very well at higher speeds. I’ve tried 25 & 26P Tempest in addition to the 25 & 26P Trophy’s prior to opting for the 25P Tempest on my boat. This prop seems to give me the best of all worlds, but then again I’ve a small version of a Bass Pro Shops in my boat most of the time.
