Yes change leads to batteries, switch them.
If you will come by my shop Bill I can run a load test on your batteries. It will take only a few minutes.
Dave…where is your shop? I just might try to come by there Monday? I charged the battery all night, checked it this morning…its back up to 12.79volts. Does that mean its okay?
If this is a 24 volt system (or 36 for that matter) then the batteries are connected in series to get N x 12 volts. If one has a poor connection, all have a poor connection since all electrons move through every connection in a series connection. Also one weak battery (old, sulfated plates, etc) will make the whole thing run weakly. I decided years ago that when one goes bad, both get replaced (mine is 24 volts). Otherwise I found that replacing just one never restored the “zing” to the TM. Two new batteries and it will throw you out of the front if you are not careful if you steer dead left or right. But replacing just one would never restore this kind of thrust. In working on cars, weve seen this same problem repeatedly where one or both battery posts are corroded and things are not working correctly, Any corrosion will increase resistance, and it doesnt take much, thanks to old Ohm, to drastically reduce current flow. Just one ohm of resistance limits you to 25 amps max draw. 2 ohms gives 12.5 amps. Etc. Also interferes with charging if you use an on-board system for that. I clean them a couple of times a year and if I see anything funny-looking, I clean them when I notice it.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
I too replace both batteries at the same time, I will give the post cleaning a shot one more time and see how they do this weekendTreat everyday like it might be the last
How long batteries last is a function of how many cycles you have on them. If you use them all the time then they will not last as long.
Since it is a Group 24, we assume it to be a cranking battery. Here is a list of batteries that fit our latest thoughts on batteries for a replacement. I will not speak with certainty for HPDIs, but a 24 series 550 CCA battery is a potential problem for Optimax. I have never run a 1000 CCA battery, but I do use the 30 series Trojan 225 SCS, which is about an 850-900 CCA battery. I use 3 of these in my Cougar FTD with a 36 v system, and have had ZERO battery issues with either the cranking battery or the trolling motor. Im sure others will add advise here–but I would swap that 24 series out for the biggest, strongest 30-31 series dual purpose marine battery that you can find. Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN
We have posted a list of suggested batteries that are available. We strongly suggest AGM styles in lead, not spiral cell with appropriate amperage for serious anglers. Or a heavy lead acid for casual fishers. The list has been reported several times and should be in the FAQ section.

Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN Mike, are you using three or four batteries total for your 36 volt system? Glynn
Glynn, I have always run a 3 battery, 36 volt system. All three of my batteries are 30 series, Trojan SCS 225s. As stated, I”ve had no power issues of any kind. If BCB recommends the AGMs, Im sure they are better—I just have no experience with them, and the Trojans have done all Ive needed. Mike Whitten
The new outboard computers a very voltage sensitive. A buddy of mine got a brand new Opti during break in everything was fine. The first tourney he fished when he was running across the lake in the AM every time he would trim the motor would cut out / bog down. he did not have any problem the rest of the day. Thinking it had something to do with moister from AM dew and cold he ignored it. every thing was fine until the same thing happened again the next tourney. He took it to the shop and they told him that the new computers were very voltage sensitive and the combination of running lights in the AM and the trim were causing enough voltage drop to effect the computer. they recommended he change to a battery with 1000 CCA. He has not had a problem since he has changed the battery. Hope this helped.
B.C.B. i tried to find that in the faqs but i didnt see it anywhere. i may have overlooked it or didnt get the right word in my searches one, not sure. i think i will upgrade just to be on the safe side anyway.

I assume you heard this with a charge entering the battery? If I remember my physical chemistry I believe batteries are supposed to do that when a load is applied and the water/solution(PbSO4) in the cells gets hot.Thats essentially one of the reasons you have to check your batteries fluid levels- multiple recharges can boil out water and vapor exits and your water goes down.C.O.D.
