Thanks BassCat. Scott helped me diagnose as a problem with the touchpad.
Next area of concern that Ive run into is the bilge pump dont seem to be working. I didnt feel like it was working when I got the boat (93 Pantera 2) about a month ago. A fishing buddy of mine told that the best way to check it is to stick a hose pipe in the back compartments and turn it on an see. I did that, both in manual and automatic with the power switch on, and I get NOTHING. I was wondering if any of you guys can give me some tips on checking, replacement, etc. Got new bunks for the trailer made and installed this week and just got new rubber for my leaky compartments from BCB, and installed. Lids have been raped of shocks and and lighting and most of the lid latches are broken or rusted solid, so that project is coming. So far to go and so much to learn, but if anybody can give me some advice on the bilge issue, Id appreciate it.Thanks, Jimmy
When it comes to wiring I personally just call service at basscat and describe what Im looking at over the phone.- Chaz
Please contact them with the serial number as well as dash style.
Or we can try to guide you through it here. There are several different systems and ways they each function.
This is my dash.[/IMG]
Still cant help from that image as we cant see what is operating it or boat model, year etc.
Here are a couple of more pics. I have a 1992 Pantera II. I got up under the dash and there are several wires lose I am not sure I can get a clear pic from behind the dash so I am considering taking the panel out. Let me know what you think. Thanks for the help![/IMG]
They have a schematic for that in Service. The wires for the bilge are brown and this dash has power from the switches to the pumps and auto. The auto works both pumps in either manual or auto. Green is the Aeration and Recirculation. Switches are McGill and Carlings replace those with a much better switch manufactured in 1993 first. All white wires are lights for dash, running and etc. Courtesy lights and horn are either orange or pink. The yellow is the fuel tank and there are red wires there for main power from the Master switch. Each switch is on an 8 amp ETA in dash. The mst Common issue is at the terminal block on the transom. Everything ties there from the battery. Though on a 20 year old boat we cant saymwhatnhas been done to it over the years. Poor switches made then and the mass of wiring is what led us to the digital dashes introduced in 1993 model year. The switches in this boat were the best ones manufactured then. Hope this helps.
This helps a lot. I will tinker with it this evening. Thanks, BCB[/IMG]
Take the pump out and squirt a little pb blaster arou d the impeller shaft, and work it with your hand, 9 out a 10 it will be that, shaft seized up from gunk or rust.also check the small power block inside and fastened to transom on the Right side of boat, could be rusted out or loose connections!Last edited by scubaman154 on July 21st, 2013, 7:45 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Ok, thanks Scuba. Thats a start. Ill check it out.
Checked the wiring going into both pumps (yes, appears to have two bilge pumps) and with switch on and bilge pump in on position, its dead on both wires. Am I missing something, or shouldnt there be a wire that is Hot with the switch on.
