Im not sure whats on butt end of box but can you use rod sock an put 2 in a hole?
It has the receiver unit, with 15 holes for 15 rod butts, 3 rows of 5 receiver holes each
I would just use rod covers an put them in same hole on that end. I wouldnt use the tubes without them regardless , saves guides an protects line an rod.
Is there still rod lockers on each side of the boat?
The Port and left center box have rod holders.
There is supposed to be open space for rods to slide under the tube brackets. I think that was in a written description of the Caracal posted on one of the boards. If you bought the boat from a dealer, I would take it to him and let him make the changes. If you bought it from an individual, I would pull both tube brackets out and remove enough material from the forward piece to make it work. I imagine its accessible enough with the rear piece removed.
I would call the factory or take it to the nearest dealer. I have looked at several boats and i do not think the front piece looks wright. Please up date us with your out come.

Im hoping this will not be difficult to remedy and Ill still get to use the tubes….looking for guidance from BCB before I do anything. Out of the three other Caracal owners with whom I spoke, one has the same situation.

I bought a like new 15 Caracal at the end of October. The boat is awesome and I am thrilled with it on all fronts with one exception. A big surprise for me was the center rid box. It is supposed to hold 15 rods. Mine will hold only 10 as the open space below the rod tubes only allows another 24 inches max before hitting the solid front retainer for the rod tubes. On mine there is no clearance beneath the rod tube retainer up front. See picture. I have no rods shorter than 66″ but cannot even get a 6er in the bottom row. Ive talked to 3 other caracal owners and 1 other guy has same situation. BCB, what are my options? I really need this box to hold 15 rods. Like I said, really a surprise as I never even thought to look under those tubes. I suppose I could remove the rod tubes entirely which I dont want to do. Is it possible the wrong front rod tube retainer used in the build process? Possibly I could remove the front retainer and cut 3/4″ off of the bottom with a jig saw to give a slot for the rod tips? It seems like reaching the front retainer to unscrew also might be a challenge? If it matters, my boat was manufactured in May 2015. Mine is just the white surface.
The Caracal today has the equivelant of a tool mat in the bottom. You can have that box carpeted if you desire.
Ive had water in the rod locker more than once. Not sure if Id want it carpeted. Never had water in any of the other lockers.2019 Basscat Caracal225 Evinrude G2Solix 12’s
I had my Caracal rod box carpeted as an option. So glad I had it done. I really like it.
I bought carpet to put in my rod box. Ive just not gotten around to installing it. I may not bother with it.
