And there suppose to have it on the water for demo rides at their boat show next week. Unfortunately, its on the back of a stratos not a Bass Cat but, I still got to check it out. I gotta say its pretty wicked looking in person. http://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q56 … 7ecbec.jpg” alt=”image”>Last edited by polaris425 on August 29th, 2014, 7:31 pm, edited 4 times in total.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

As for performance time will tell. As for looks it reminds me of the movie Transformers.
If they have it on the water Ill try to go and get some video.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
Interesting, I am curious to see what others say about the looks of it. A little too much for my taste but hey i am old man.
It may end up being the cats meow but dang I dont think that the looks of it will ever grow on me

Several boats will be in water for demo rides. Several basscats, couple metal boats, and couple toons. Not sure about the stratos thou it is a demo so possible. Come on out, if its in water you can ride.
From the picture, The lower unit looks a lot like a Yamaha lower unit. The other Etecs had more of a round nose on them didnt they?

Typical Rude! I hope I never have to have another engine on my boat that starts with E. One was plenty for me but I know some guys love them and that is fine with me. I agree with most about the look. It does not impress me. Polaris have you seen the new Caracal yet?Dan
River walk on jack Warner parkway . Very close to stadium, so those in for football activities a day ahead will have something xtra to do. Boats in water 4-7 roughly.( Friday the 5th)

bass1958 wrote:I kind of like the design, starting to grow on me. Like the gray and black side plate but dont like white with red side plate type colors.Speaking of the power assisted steering, what are thoughts about that? Does it make over steering at speed to easy? Could it be a cause of more boat wrecks for people who dont drive much?Bass1958,Power Assist:Reports from respected Ranger folks who dont own Etecs gave very favorable reports on the G2s power assist. Going into aggressive turns at 50 mph (my interpretation) the G2s power assit drivers claim making these turns with their thumb (one hand). I dont doubt the source whose a big time Ranger/ProXS guy(GC). Hes open minded enough to give his honest assessments. Also, said hes not switching anytime soon but did say he is quite impressed with BRPs Etec G2. I can respect that. Also, hes raved about the G2s power and torque by comparison to his ProXS on his Ranger. Maybe someday BassCat might demo a G2 on one of their heavier boats by comparison. Side Note: Top end is very subjective with motors HP power rating. The only thing IMO that can make a difference at WOT would be LUs low water intakes to raise the motor higher maintaining WPSI integrity. So for all three motors they gonna be about the same as it relates to basic setup experience. Any performance past that relates to setup experience. I cant tell you the number of times I talk with guys that think all motors are setup the the same way. NOT TRUE some can be raised higher then others and some motors trim differently! Also, All things being equal with stock props too.Auto Trim:The G2w auto trim is another impressive feature. Get behind the wheel and put the pedal to the metal….. the motor automatically trims out up to 65 mph with no need to touch the trim (Blinker or Hand Throttle trim button). Just keep two hands on the wheel and drive. If you want to go past 65 mph use your trim and it overrides the G2s auto trim automatically. Pretty cool. This is a major benefit for those relatively are new to high performance bass boating. Some may say no big deal but Im sorry that is cool. Another boat driving cool factor characteristic with the G2: With a simple menu selection on BRPs dedicated Motor LCD you can switch between hotfoot or hand throttle instantly….. Thats comfort coolness if you are making long runs and want to use hand throttle like cruise control. Either way you have that option. Im impressed with these innovated features and would be touting the same enthusiasm if Merc or Yamaha had these offerings. IMO This is a good thing because it forces Merc and Yamaha to respond for their customers. Innovation is cool!No way JoseIts a free country. Those who gonna hate on BRP will do so regardless of these new features. Its a free country with some having merit per past bad experiences. However, Ive read enough similar experiences from owners with same unfortunate experiences with Yamaha and Mercury. Pick your poison. I hope this thread does not digress with haters. It serves no purpose. I hope we can focus on innovation for the boat owner. I think that is Polaris intent. Is the G2 a major success? To some/most more time is required. Thats logical assessment. I think BRP recognizes this too and to that is offering 5 year warranty (no promotion) with ability to buy/add two more years for total 7 years of motor warranty. Final teaser: I havent detailed the power curve or how clean these motor operate per EPA standards. Google Etec G2 videos. They are quite impressive if hole shot and midrange are important to you. At the end this could be a window to where outboards are going. Lets hope all three extend some of these to their loyal base. For the amount of money we spend we should expect nothing less.

Unfortunately, Ill be out of the country on business for the next two weeks if its in Alabama.Gotta say I totally agree with you its BA wicked looking. From what I have read most with initial negatives towards the G2 looks after seeing it in person say they are very impressed with the G2 design. As for performance I havent read one negative response from those who have been out in a boat with the new motor. Its not for everyone thats okay. Me, I like what I see and hope Evinrude has a winner with this motor. Innovation is good for consumers even for non Etec owners and there is some new things unique with this motor. The power assist steering and auto trim has my interest. Ill probably not own one because my dealer sells SHOs exclusively. If he ever picked them back up Id be all in to owning one. The one Etec I bought from him when he sold Etecs was outstanding. By far the 150 HO Etec is the baddest motor in the 150 motor class Ive experienced. That motor would keep right up there with my 175 HPDI. Not to many 150 HP stock motors pushing a tournament loaded Sabre 69-70 mph on the GPS in fall/winter air temps. The one I owned did. Id love to see BassCat test a 225 Etec G2 on a 1950lb Caracal or see how the Jaguar/250 HO Etec respond from hole shot, midrange all the way to WOT. The videos Ive seen pushing Ranger Walleye barges has been ridiculously impressive. Yea, Im impressed with the G2s torque and power. You gotta be blind not to notice it.Hey fly…why do you think he quit selling them? Yamaha i dont believe demands exclusive sales just #s per year?Ward, stop it! That has nothing to do with my ownership experience or the discussion on the G2. Keep it positive friend!
Polairs, thanks for the follow up. Great info we all benefit from. Kudos to you. Unfortunately, I cant get there. Id love to. Tuesday Im heading to Europe for 9 days. However, tomorrow Ill be in a tin boat with my son hunting for a 6-10lbers. He lost one over 10 plus three weeks ago. Hes still crowing about that. LOL….. We caught several over 6 last time out…… It will hold me over to my next BassCat later this year to boat show season.
