I just purchased a 1992 BassCat Pantera II that is in great shape from a gentleman in Missouri. Although this is not the first boat I have owned, it is the first fiberglass bass boat. I do not have experience with jack plates, as this boat has a manual jack plate, I have a feeling this will not be fun to deal with. It appears to me that the jack plate is to low. The motor will not tilt up all the way as it is not clearing properly and the motor can not be lowered all the way when it is on the trailer. What is the best way to adjust the plate? He said they adjusted the plate to the prop and this particular 200hp Merc has a high five prop on it. I have never had a 5 blade prop before will this reduce my speed? Snce your jack plate is a custom 6 bolt mount you should stay BCB pattern and 8″ is fine with the hydraulic companies of SeaStar Detwiler and Atlas both matching it.

Custom 6 bolt mount? so do i need to buy one from bass cat? or do i have to get it custom drilled for my transom? thanks

You should be able to buy it from the mentioned manufactures, just specify you want one for a Bass Cat with the 6 bolt pattern.Your Signature …

Previously BCB had mentioned that if you planned to add Power Poles to go with the Atlas because it is pre-drilled and to go with the Detweiler if you were not planning on adding poles. Not to say that poles cant be added with a Detweiler. Both are very good plates. Good point i forgot to mention that. I do have power poles as well! And is the 8 inch is the best performing seT back for this boat. I wouldnt wannna go to a 10?

I will have a hydraulic plate I am taking off my Puma that I will be selling. PM me if interested and we can talk. Ill have power pole brackets with it too.

You can still go with Detwiler, you just have to drill the base, i have twin talons on mine

so if i were to order a jack plate from any one of these companys will the bolt holes they come with match up to the 4 existing holes in the transom then i can drill out the other two to match or is the pattern completely different??
