the Keelguard box tells what length boat they are designed for. This is the size I used for my Sabre. One tip, before I installed it, I taped some paper together and traced along the outside of the Keelguard laying down in my garage. Then, I cut out the paper design and taped it to the bottom of my boat. Then, I took a grease pencil and outlined where the keelguard will mount. This method helps you keep on track as youre installing it.
Thanks for the tip, I will be adding one to my Sabre also.ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
Thanks. Which brand is better Keelguard or Keelshield?
I have had 2 Keelguards and I swear by them. Fairly easy to install and they stay stuck!
HAMBYS!!!!!!!
Where can I get the best price on a Hambys light? Thanks, John
Hamsby glues on. Requires straps to hold the guard in place while the epoxy sets.THEY STAY ON – They are the best!Stay away from the double sided tape-on keel guards.A dealer will want to install these because they are easier to tape on.THEY WILL COME OFF.BCB should have Hamsby installed at the factory as a standard product. Optional left off.Ever pull up to a concrete boat ramp to let a non-boater jump in ???Tim Swanson
The hamby cost is a considerable retail for those that would not use it. The Hamby would run in the 2% of boats retail cost on some models and we just cant do that to all owners. We once considered building a notch in the mold to prefit a Hamby, and this prevented us dong that. BCB
I dont know where some of you are located due to not being registered (which is fine) but I thought I would throw out there that Tommy @ Rockwall Marine (Rockwall, TX) is running a Hambys special right now because he was able to get an awesome deal on some Hambys heavy duty. He is passing the savings along and selling them for $375 installed. He had 25 at this price and I know he has sold quite a few of them so there isnt many left. For those of you who dont know this is a KILLER deal on a Hambys and it doesnt happen often so if you need one get the best there is and get you a Hambys.Judd Lasiter
my keel guard is starting to come off what can i use to make it stick back
I think the Keel Guard brand is all the same width, and for your application i think they reccommend the 7 version. But, having used both the Keel Guard, and the Hamby, i would reccommend the Hamby over any other. contact your BCB dealer and inquire about the price, and i would reccommend they install, as it can be tedious, but well worth the investment ! imho, D.
I have used both also, and I would also recommend the Hambys. Much more durable. Probably will cost more, but the price is worth it. Its a great product. I also agree with Doug about having a dealer install a Hamby. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax
I have also had Hambys on all of my other BassCats. This “new to me” boat, a 96 Eyra that I bought last May, had a Keel Guard on it. You can see where it had worn out in one spot, to the point I can see the hull. Will need to get another someday, but due to age of my boat, probably would be a Keel Guard. I prefer the Hambys, “just set it and forget it”.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Same here; had a Hambys on my last boat but have a Keel Guard on my current one. Its not bad but its no Hambys, thats for sure. DekeDeke
The Hambys is better but if done correctly there is nothing wrong with the keel guard. Have installed them on several boats. If you will follow the directions and do all the prep work right the keel guard will do its job. Good Luck JW
