Just a suggestion!! It depends on your situation but it worked well for me. I was all set to put about 4gs into a new/rebuilt powerhead until a friend suggested trying to sell the boat and trailer first and putting that money towards a boat upgrade! Seems there are a fair amount of folks with sound motors that they need a good hull for. Might put the boat on some craigslist sites as well think of areas outside of just were you live alsoI was fortunate enough to finish second in the o.I. this past year and sold the Margay that we won through craigslist. It also didnt have a motor on it. Someone had a motor that they were needing a boat to put it on so it worked out well. You can give it a run trying to sell first before you repower or fix your current motor. I would wait on parting out the motor until I knew I had the boat sold just in case you have to fall back on fixing your old motor!! When i started parting out the motor I thought the block would end up being a paper weight as it had a couple small holes where the rod hit it but it was the first thing to sell. A guy that raced the 2.5L mercs. bought it as he would weld up blocks that werent to bad to use for his race motors. He said he would probably end up blowing it eventually so didnt want to use new/good used blocks. Sold all the efi and electronic parts as well as the lower unit to another guy upgrading a older carbed motor he had. I think i got about 2000-2500 out of the motor parts.Last edited by gasaxe on September 26th, 2012, 2:05 am, edited 1 time in total.
