Most important in my opinion, #1—Keep the boat out of the sun when you arent using it. If that means a carport and keeping the boat covered then that will work. If you have a garage thats even better. Personally, I would not buy a fiberglass boat if I didnt have some type of cover to put it under. I do not recommend storing the boat outside with just a boat cover. I know people do this and some dont have an issue with it. Maybe in a drier climate than I live it wouldnt be bad but, You have to have a way to keep the boat out of the sun and keep the moisture off of it. The sun is the biggest destroyer of fiberglass, vinyl seats, and just about every component on the boat. #2—Keep the boat dry when not in use. Moisture will cause mold and mildew to accumulate and break down electronics, seats, carpet and even fiberglass over time. That may mean keeping fans blowing on the interior. In south Louisiana it is so humid that even though my boat stays in the garage I keep fans blowing on the boat and also run a window unit A/C to keep some of the humidity out. #3—Wash your boat every time you use it!! Or at least wipe it down with a “spray wax” such as Lucas slick mist or Eagle one wax & dry. #4—3 times a year put a coat of good quality wax on the whole boat. That will protect it well if you do a good job of wiping it down in between outings as said above. #5—Owning a high end fiberglass bass boat is a huge investment and it takes a lot of work to keep one looking nice. It always baffles me when I see someone with a $50,000 boat sitting outside in the elements all of the time or one that hasnt been washed since it was bought. Then when they try to sell it for top dollar they wonder why no one wants to pay for it.#6—DO NOT USE ARMOR ALL OR SIMILAR TYPE PRODUCTS ON THE SEATS OR ANY INTERIOR SURFACE. I learned this the hard way on my last rig. That stuff destroys plastic, vinyl, and leather!!!#7—Make sure you follow yours owners manual to maintain the engine. They are also a huge investment and you dont want to cut corners to save a few bucks. If your manual says to do it, then do it!!This is what has worked for me and I must say all of my rigs have looked exceptional when it was time to sell them and get a new one.
