There are those who don’t mind the hook in the middle opinion section. Those that don’t like the hook are emphatic we find, and those who admire it are less enthusiastic. If any of us don’t admire (insert like here) something, we tend to be more vocal than those who admire (insert like again) something.
The hook has reached a definite contingency that has opposition to it. It is hard to do, it was very hard to model (tool) in the plug and it is extremely difficult to color and tape.
This leads us to a crossroad.
Here is how I see it. If the hook is so cool then put it on every model! I am not interested in the Pantera Classic because of the price point. My boat (if ordered) will cost as much if not more than the other larger boats. I want the Pantera Classic because it will fit through the garage door without having to worry about just having 1″ or room to play with in getting it in the garage. The garage door on my 3-car that this would go in is a 8′ door…the Pantera Classic for being a 19’+ boat fits that opening perfectly. Can’t store it outside because I can’t, and would not do that anyway. Don’t want a smaller boat.
I like things to look clean. The hook is a deal breaker for me on this boat because to me it looks dorky…that is my taste and you do not have to agree with it but it seems that I am not the only one. Maybe someone thought it would look cute…and again…if it was on every other model Cat then so be it…but it is on the boat that I would like to order/buy but if this is going to be on the boat and to stick out like it does then this is not going to be the boat I get.
I personally like the hook, can’t you just put a decal of something you do like over it?
I like the hook. If I didn’t it would not be a deal breaker for me unless I were using it to just ski with lol.
I’m not a big fan of the hook either. It is different though. Just like the lightning bolt. Just like the deck layout. Just like the top cap/hull in the front. Just like the trailers being built in house. Just like the customer service you get with a BassCat.
You are absolutely correct about it being your money, and you certainly can choose a different brand to spend it on. I own a BassCat because I think it is THE best all around boat in the market, and I know BCB cares about their customers. I love my Sabre FTD because for me, it is the perfect boat at this point in my life. If I was still fishing tournaments, I would have purchased a PII or the new Classic, as they are still within my price range. A small design characteristic like the hook would not outweigh all the other factors for owning a BassCat, at least for me.
I’m back in the market again after being away for a few years and have been and still leaning towards the PII or 2012-14 P4. It wasn’t until this past weekend that I carefully started looking at the Classic again as that was my previous and once I saw this little design difference, I thought how flipping cool is that signature mark. Something again that BCB does different and that makes them standout. Sometimes it’s the little things and the gradual changes that make who we are.
I narrowed my choices down to the Classic and PII. My reasoning was mainly the ablility to fit them in my garage. I went with the PII. I actually like the hook. I feel it’s a unique to the brand and model. I didn’t like the white only area around the hook. But that was not the reason I went with the PII. Livewells were. They are important for me here in Florida due to the heat.
I like the hook. Very creative touch BassCat. I can’t imagine the hook design is that big of a deal. Wow!
Let’s just say Q1 2019! Finally see that light at the end my crazy journey. I will always be BassCat Strong!
So screamn1550 – you are suggesting that since you don’t like the hook that Basscat should retool the mold going forward because of your opinion? Interesting…and that would be a horrible business decision for Basscat to make based off of one opinion. I’m not saying you shouldn’t have your opinion and that others don’t share your opinion (I’m not a fan of the hook either). But, I certainly wouldn’t tell any company to retool an entire boat due to one graphic. It does sound like many have voiced their opinion on the hook and maybe BCB will eventually eliminate this graphic. If you don’t like it that much then there are many other choices out there. Will a P2 fit in your garage? Will an older model Classic fit? Will a P4 fit? I’m not saying you shouldn’t voice your opinion, that’s actually what makes change happen but there is more involved in the final decision than just you saying if you don’t change it for me then that’s a deal breaker and I’m not going to buy. Seems like a poor way to get your point across. And I am sure BCB will tell you that ultimately they want you as the consumer to be happy and if this isn’t going to make you happy then don’t purchase the new Classic.
As of October 1st the hook is an option, though the inlay raised area will remain. It will just be all white.
