i pulled the prop off an it looks like something made out of plastic sherd in the prop . u can turn the prop when its in gear but the shaft is not turning so can the plastic looking gear be replaced.
well now Im stumped! can not imagine anything in there made of plastic , post a picture of it on here and close up of prop shaft and gear case as well as prop hub
There are only 2 things made of plastic down there, a cavitation ring if youre running a Trophy prop or the prop hub itself. If the shaft doesnt turn freely by hand with the prop off and in neutral then you need to see a mechanic. The least it will be will be a bent prop shaft and more likely some gear damage.
Its a Tempest Plus prop but i figured it out an looked it up. it is called a prop shaft adaptor it will will break before the gears do . i found the part an its only like 30 dollars
It sounds like you could have locked the gears, or bent the prop shaft. In gear or does it spin? The bent shaft could have the hub of the propeller pressed against the side of the case housing.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on February 2nd, 2009, 3:22 am, edited 1 time in total.
Spun a hub…Ive done it more than once………a new hub insert is less than $20….thats what it is designed to do…break when you hit a stump to avoid bending the prop shaft.
If the prop will not spin, then a hub is not the issue. The propeller should free wheel with the shaft in neutral. Otherwise it is possible that a hub is lost if you are talking about no forward motion when in gear.
Will be hard to say as that is a rare application, probably only BCB or OT57 will be able to help you. The super mag was a “racing motor” type that is typically used on lighter hulls. The Jaguar was anything but light. Hope you get some good starting point references. Welcome to the family!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
A 97 225 Super Mag or EFI of Mercs has so many facets it is hard to say. They need ventilation to make it pop out of the hole, and they would be improved with a Fury in 25″. BCB
I ran a VERY worked 28 trophy and a 27 trophy. Go back with the Fury.
Yea,gotta agree. Fury is the right way to go.
Id try a 23 Tempest on that rig. The holeshot is great, although the PTech will out handle the Tempest. Give Steve Glenn at Keystone prop a shout. His website is keystonepropeller.com. Email is [email protected] Steve has his own line of the PTechs, his signature line. They will fly. Give em a chance.
My nephew runs an 07 Pantera 4 with the same motor . — 24 Fury on his rig and its a BEAST !! — KILLER holeshot , and 68 to 73 on top , depending on load , of course . — Im thinking about trying it on my Yamaha just for giggles and grins . — Hoss
I had a 2009 PII with the 200 H.O., a worked 25 Trophy Plus by DAH was the best all around prop I had. The 25 Fury was the best out of the box prop on it. The 26 Fury was the fastest by one mph but it lacked in hole shot and mid range gitty up and go. My recommendation would be the 25 Fury, unless you want to spend the money getting a new 25 Trophy Plus worked by DAH.BrianBrianHAWG Hunter2013 BassCat Eyra2013 Mercury 250 Pro XS Gen2 L/U
