I have never been a fan of the Frogg Toggs so my recommendation would be to avoid them if at all possible. The BCB rainsuit is awesome if they offer it right now, I think they are still ironing things out with it. If that is the case Guidewear or 100mph is the best but a little hot in the summer. A BassProShops high performance raingear (HPR) is a great suit for the money. I have one that is almost 10 years old that I have only used Revivex on it one time. Impressive suit and I like it on the warmer days. My opinion is it is always worth the additional money to get GoreTex too. Judd Lasiter
The Frogg Toggs are fine if you plan on buying a new suit every year. They just dont last. If you ever bend down and put your knees on the deck to tie baits, change baits, unhook fish, etc, then the knees get worn and raveled very quickly. I guess in my mind, what I would compare is this…….a new suit every year, or, pay alot more for it and have it for several years. Again, theres nothing wrong with Frogg Toggs…..they just dont last long.
I have the frogg toggs and I will say this…buy a roll of “duck” tape, to retape the seams. Keeps my wallet dry, but when the seams separate, I look like I drank a case of beer and couldnt find a tree fast enough……….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I have been trying to order the Bass Cat rain gear for some time. The last time I checked BCB did not have them for sale. Last week I bought a 100mph suit from Bass Pro….They had them on clearance (the red ones only). I paid $235 shipped to my door. They look almost identical to the BCB rain gear.
I bought the Basscat raingear (full set) very early in the year and it is great. Best I have ever had (maybe 6 sets)….very good preventing getting wet and if you get the jacket insert quite warm in cold weather………..
Thanks folks. The reason I mentioned Frogg Toggs above is because thats what currently shows on the BCB website. I have a gift certificate that Im holding onto just for that but I may go buy something just to get by until the BCB rain gear is offered again.
I just bought the classic Gortex they had on sale. I havent used it yet, but it is really nice. I bought the bibs and parka uninsulated so if I want to put some under armor on for cold weather I can or use it in summer with a t-shirt. They are made very well.
Thinking of getting the uninsulated EXV parkas and buying the zip in fleece liner, and adding the uninsulated bibs. That way we would be able to remove the liner for the summer time. Just curious to see what people think. The quality looks good on the internet, but you never can quite tell by the pics. I was also gonna buy them cause they are on sale and I got a coupon also.
Now Joe……… you know youre not going fishing if its less than 70, winds are greater than 10, or theres a chance of rain!
I have a set of the Cabelas guide wear…that the Cabelas folks gave us a year ago when we took them fishing….during awriters conference…. all but bullet proof…best i have ever owned….GHCpt.Gary Harlan (Harlo) USCG Liscd Fishing Guide Tishomingo, MS Roger Stegalls Professional Guide Service Sponsors: BassCat (of course!), Strike King, Falcon Graphite Rods, Gary Yammamoto Custom Baits
Thanks Gary. Phil, you know me all too well!!!!! Not gettin em to fish in, need something for the overspray as I pass that Puma up LOL! Good luck to you guys this weekend, we will see you up there.
Hello folks. Iam looking at getting either a light or medium rainsuit and was wondering what youguys use and what you have experienced?
I have 4 sets of the cabalas brand dry plus lite rain gear (1 in each boat, one in each vehicle) that I have had for 8 – 10 years. Been thru many storms as I spent 6 years in AL and 2 in FL before moving back to CA.They have rebranded it since, but still dry plus. Here is a link to their current product:http://www.cabelas.com/product/clothing … rPage%3D48Your Signature …
I like the Pro Qualifier from bass pro. Keeps me warm and dry in winter and not to bad in the summer rain. Bibs and jacket was about $350 I think. Ive had em a few years. No problems with em.
I have the pro qualifier also has worked real well but a to hot for me in summer I also a set of the frog toggs with the bibs works good and are lighter weight just my opinion .
