You line up the end of the Velcro with the top end of the Velcro on the emboidered strap. This should create a double S style of the strap. The buckles goes to the inside, so the strap flops out over the deck out of the way. The lower strap with the stainless steel buckle is on the lower end of the S leg. >S The screws are all placed _ (flat) on each end of the lower section below that next bend up on your strap, with two and a matching finish washer on each end. Which means four screws. The inside screws are close to the buckle, though not pressing down on it. Which allows the buckle to be solid, though pivot. The up and back strap then is secured by the screws. The strap then runs over your rods and back through the buckle. The Velcro will be up on this section. The strap then folds back pointing to the outside, which locks the top strap section into the opposing center section of itself. SYou lay your rods on the flat section, loop the strap over, and can place a couple of rods on top of that section for Easy access. Though it is not NEAR as secure. You will not loose rods with these straps, and once you get used to them, they are pretty quick. Not as quick as bungees or retractable, though much more durable and dependable. We will see if P & A can get a picture for you tomorrow if you still need one. Good Luck! BCB
Its not a dumb question because I had the same one when I got my rod straps. I might have some pics, let me check.2005 Sabre, 150 XR6, Minn Kota Fortrex with Lowrance electronics

Chris4pt3:Thanks for the help; got what I needjwt
John, Some models only come with one, while others have two. You can certainly add another one very easily. BCB
Right, but I dont understand why if you only had one, youd put it on that side. Im a lefty so sometimes Im a little off of the beaten path about things. Im just not sure if Im missing a practical reason for it.You should have seen how excited I was when a guy showed me I could secure my trolling motor cord into the slats by the handle of the motor — if you can picture that. You guys have no idea how many little tricks you have that us novices are clueless about.
Yes there are! Kevin put this board up for us a few years back and we have been active on it ever since. It immediately showed us that high quality comments could be held that benefit all of our customers at some point. Last year we added the FAQ board to preserve some of those tid bits of info. We will visit with Parts when they return on Monday and can catch them on on the horn. BCB
John, the TM cord in the slats is a good one, you can share that one many times at the ramps to old and new alike.pant 2BOB
Amen, And you know some times I might seem like a pain but seeing how sincere in making your boats the best they can be makes me want to help if I can.Nothing of this world is perfect, but paying attention to the little things gets us closer. This rod strap thing I would guess is nothing, but if it would be smarter to put it on the other side of the boat than why not.You guys are incredible, and I know you believe your customer’s can help make the boats of the future better.I bet if I had bought another brand I wouldn’t be wasting my breath with such little things because I’d be convinced they wouldn’t care.
John, The rod storage on the left is something that just evolved. “In the beginning…” most bass boats were single console and the rods were always stored on the left to clear the console. This isnt a problem any more with most bass boats but it probably was the reason the left side location became standard.
That makes sense Rick, thanks.
Rick in on track and theres probably a 50/50 chance the boat is a single console and most would opt to lay rods on the side without the console where the rods tips would overhang the rod box laying on the top deck.
Ron I like the ease of the rubber ones but have the velcros on my puma ftd.We debated this about a month ago and velcro won overall.Go for it.The only advice I have for you Ron is 1) If you get blacklights for Tues nites get as many as you can per side2) You cant have too much gatorhyde- see how many coats Rick will let you have!C.O.D. I moved the Velcro one to the back for the passenger and had two rubber straps put up front. Its a personal preference.
One angler has both. Rubber straps for quick runs but velcros down for rough water trips. Just gonna be personal preference. BC had even talked about the retractable buckles being an option someday for those that prefer them.I have the rubber straps now, but in hindsight I wish I would have just replaced the velcro with fresh ones……..96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
