The retractable straps are in stock and offered at BCB. They would work great for an angler like Ron. If we were you we would consider them.
Velcro will hold the rods better in rough water. If you dont fish in big water then the rubber will work fine.I have used the Velcro in the last 4 boats, just got used to them and prefer them for where we fish.
Ive got the velcro straps on my Cougar. I still like them…guess Im an “old school” type of guy. I did have retractable straps on a T boat I had several years ago and didnt like them. The plastic tips would tend to break off. Maybe a newer type like BCB offers are better, but I still like my velcro!

If we were you we would consider them.I have used retractable rods on my last three BassCats including my most recent BassCat Eyra. I prefer them for personal reasons and would recommend these type of rod straps to anyone wanting them. BassCat offers three rod strap options and per the comments above you will be happy with any of the offerings. Last edited by Flyswatter on October 28th, 2010, 12:37 am, edited 1 time in total.

They are an OEM install, though you could pick them u through Parts Joey. BCB
I know this is going to sound like the worlds dumbest question; but how do you install the Bass Cat rod straps? Two screws on each end? How are they positioned? Is it possible to get a close up picture?thanksjwt
I installed a pair of straps from Billet products and they work great. The link is http://www.billetboatproducts.com
The IMCO style buckles mount into the deck and not on the sides. There was a video of this and there is probably a link to images. We did not chevk the brochure though we think it is in there too.

choochoo, I was like you in that I wanted something that was easier to operate when fishing. So I installed the bungee strap style right next to my original velcro strap setup. That way when I am traveling across the lake at high speed or in rough water, I just use the velcro straps so that I wont lose any of the expensive rods & reels.Johnny
Flyswatter, how big was the hole you had to cut in deck, where is the video BCB was talking about
Thanks Dennis; I just spent $200 on that billet site!!! Those straps and tool holder should look good on my cougar if I finally get it this weekend.
I fished a tournament at LOZ a week ago Sunday, my partner had the bungee straps, he wished he had the velcro straps. Two $$300.00 Rod / Reel combos, over the side!! Your call!!Chuck
I always un strap my rods while fishing. If I keep them strapped down, I have little or no room for my feet when fishing up front. The reels and rod handles get in the way quite a bit. That is my only complaint about the TM pedal being so far forward. I wouldnt change a thing though, its just a small pain to have to unstrap the rods and move them back to be able to fish comfortably.
