The sponsor giving you have the price of the new boat would make this an easy decision for me. Get what you want and dont look back. When you have the rest of the boat paid off, youll be so happy you went with the Basscat. A couple times I made major purchases where I bought less than I could have because it was a good deal with low payments. Then, I quickly wished I had paid more for more for my truck, boat, house, and wife (lol). I havent made those mistakes again. Good luck with whatever you decide.Hockey Patrol, Sports Purist”The Jerk Store called and they are running out of you.” David Dunn Sept. 17, 2011

I have been in the skeeter and triton and both seem to be fine boats. I dont think there are any “bad” boats out there nowadays, but you are right, my cat has held up just fine. Ive lucked into a deal where upgrading my boat right now will cost me nothing. I have a sponsor that is willing to pay half of my new boat cost if I buy soon. If I can get around $25k for my cat, that gives me $50k to play with. Hard not to upgrade with that deal! That is the main reason Im selling and upgrading now to be honest. And as far as incentives, quest is the best program out there, but skeeter would be nice if I happen to win a basschamps tournament lol. Incentives are far down on my lists though. Id have to luck up to win anything anyway lol.Keep in mind, this is all advice and something you will have to weigh out for yourself. If Im understanding from this post, youre trying to get into a boat that you really feel like is a “second choice” to the Basscat youre running — but youre trying to get there with a boat paid for. If you bump you budget to around 60K (should be more than enough to get you into the Basscat youre wanting), then you get 25K for your boat, sponsor pays 1/2 at 30K and youre in a new boat that is your choice for 5K out of pocket. Dont see where that is a bad deal.Jones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird
Knowing a chunk of Knowledge (in my head atleast) I would pic a Triton over the Bug Boat any day…..I simply feel the Trailer, Materials, Build quality and most of all Hull Design is far superior on the Toon than the Bug, but I think if your Local Dealer and BCB along with yourself can come to a Conclusion you will be alot happier and trust your Boat alot more…..Your Signature …
Just an update, Ive been contacted by Rick and Jason and they are doing their best to find me a cat in my price range. Cant say enough about how good they have been to me and I really appreciate that. I know their is 0% chance that CS from any other brand could match the response and support we all get from basscat. And JonesTrollingmotor,Your exactly right. I am trying to get into a new boat without me taking out a loan. We are in the process of building a house right now, so he wife aint going for any money coming out of our pocket for a new boat right now. But, with the deal I have right now getting half a boat paid for, its hard not to upgrade. And bworner,I agree. I looked at the skeeter zx250 and a triton 20trx. The triton seemed to be the better boat IMO, but still lacks a lot compared to a cat. Thanks for all of your advise. I really do appreciate it!
I was in the same situation earlier this year albeit with a smaller boat. Triton, skeeter, stratos, ranger, and bass cat were all on my list. Bass cat and ranger were the ones I really wanted but in the end the CS sealed the deal for me. I havent had but one really small issue, documented on here as well, but a thread, email, and a picture fixed it all and I had the part I needed within 3 days. One thing I did do was shop at a lot of dealers. I found my boat or similar models pricing differed up to 20% depending on the dealers. Some dealers are not willing to work on price while others will. I would advise doing the same thing and shopping a few dealers because I saved around $7,000 on mine by driving 3-4 hours vs the local dealer. That alone may be part of the problem. Boats especially arent like cars where there is a set, easy to find MSRP. The MSRP varies from dealer to dealer or what they claim to be the MSRP. What skeeter and triton has done is set a pricing that all dealers can be held to. Bass Cat hasnt yet except for the deals they had earlier this year on the sabre ftd for $34,500, the p2 for $37,900, and maybe another model they had advertised in that spring sale deal they were running. These werent “loaded” like the skeeter and tritons but they could have been I suppose. One other thing to consider are about the add-ons. Theyll be outdated soon, if they arent already. I figure the Garmins may be on to something with their Panoptix. Youll eventually want the new electronics, and the PowerPoles will come up with something new that is a “have to have” item and thats a never ending cycle. Thats their job to upgrade the technology and products to stay in business. It is the boat that matters more than the bells and whistles, but there are dealers that are willing to work with you better than others. And if youre in the area or even within driving distance, give R&R Marine in Pittsburgh, TX a call. They beat every dealer I talked to in Arkansas, west Tennessee, and north Louisiana by several thousand bucks. That money went to my graphs, HDS gen2s but I will say the CHIRP is here to stay for sure. I have since added an elite on the bow of my boat for the CHIRP alone. Good Luck, buy what will make you happy because if you dont, youll be wishing you had one day soon.
