It can happen that the calipers dont release. Usually the cable has been pulled and extended. There is a release tab under the coupler to depress. PAY ATTENTION: you need to listen for a slight release on pressure when you depress the tab. It will make a very slight release. Of pressure that can be identified if your paying good attention.
If its the actuator you probably have the A-60 model. Here is a link – click on the A-60 maintenance pdfhttp://www.ufpnet.com/Actuators/tabid/54/Default.aspx
Thanks for the help. I have checked the cable and it looked to be ok. I will check everything out again and pull the release tab.

Hey Cooper, thought you would get some help from BCB or someone who has been down this road with a Bass Cat trailer. If your trailer is 9 years old, I would definitely think your master cylinder could be bad. The only thing between it and calipers is the blocking solenoid. It blocks fluid from the mc to the calipers when you are backing up. First thing I would do is crawl under the trailer and inspect all the lines and such and make sure their integrity is good. If the blocking solenoid failed shut your brakes would not work. I havent heard of this though. If you have the swing tongue, there are some flexible brake lines that could go bad I suppose. If all that checks out the only other thing it could be is your master cylinder. A couple of ways to check it would be to compress it and see if it holds pressure. If it does, while holding it pressurized, open one of the bleeder valves on the calipers and see if you are getting pressure back there. Two person job here. Did I say pull the wheels and check the pads. Might be able to see them from under the trailer w/o pulling he wheels. Dunno. If you go at this, be sure to wash off any brake fluid you get on your trailer. It is very corrosive and will strip the paint right off it. Where are you located?
They are not on the boards much this week as Bass Cat is hosting their Owner Invitational so service is very limited. You can do a search in the FAQ section or search topic engine at the top of the page. You may not be able to get a full answer until they get back to full strength next Monday.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I just got done changing the solenoid and bled brakes. Did some research and if your solenoid is bad it shouldnt make your brakes not work. I think it is fail safe for that. It should just not turn brakes off when backing up an incline.I have the UFP A-60 acuator. There is a small hole underneath where can stick a screw driver in and stroke the pushrod on the master cylinder. You have to push up on a pushrod release bracket when you stroke the pushrod. Your manual should have pictures of it. When I stroked the pushrod I could see the fluid moving in the cylinder. If you cant move the pushrod your master cylinder may be bad. After I determined the solenoid was bad and changed it out, the brakes would not work. So I bled the brakes then drove around the block working the brakes several times. Now it all works. If your master cylinder is working (fluid moves when you stroke the pushrod) and you have no leaks in lines, then my next step would be to try to bleed the brakes. If that still doesnt work then I would look at the brake cylinders.
you could jack up the wheel and see if the caliper is stuck by spinning the wheel (should spin freely), then the guys on here can help from there. Let us know.
I had the issue of the piston sticking in the caliper. Took the pad down to the rivets then tearing up the rotor. Boat was less than a year old. Now my other side is sticking. Call up the brake manufacturer and they should take care of ya. I gota call them up and see if they can get me a new caliper for this issue.Builder of fine Bass Fishing RodsReel Bearing and Drag upgrades.B2 Custom RodsBoca Bearings
Have an 07 Classic and they are electric/surge. What truck did you buy? I test drove a 16 GMC SLT today but think Im going to be holding on to my 14. Numbers make it tough to justify trading in at this point but I really liked the 2016. Very sharp.
You have surge brakes on the boat trailer.
Thanks BCB. Schodackbassman – I almost bought a 15 Sierra a couple times! I really liked them and dealership (Laura Buick/GMC Collinsville IL) sells them so fast I couldnt get the deal I wanted. Ended back with my first love a 15 F150 with the 5.O. I love the truck.
