Would the stub shaft at the axle end be replaceable or do I have to pull the complete axle… I will take and post a picture when I get home this evening

This will require an axle and probably your dealerships involvement.

If you have the new Pollack style 7 pin plug then locking the coupler is your only option.

Odds are it is other power supply, fuse or a faulty solenoid.

Im having the same trouble with my 2015 Caracal Trailer.I have been using the lock-out tool provided in my black bag upon purchase. I have had the boat to the dealer for the 10 hour service and the fixed it, but the problem persists. I believe it is a bad solenoid at this point since the dealer replaced what they thought was a pinched wire from swing tongue and I replaced a pinched section as well.I will be having them look at it when I have it in for a new Noco batt charger in the next couple weeks.Dave.

well, I am thinking I did something to the wires.. since this was not a problem before.. but the last time I put my Caracal in the garage, I pulled the pins and broke the tongue of the trailer over for the first time ever on it. However, I did not have this problem backing the trailer down the boat ramp… on happened when we got her home and I tried to back into the garage.. I will have to find the solenoid.. I am not familiar with that part..

Backing downhill wont be an issue if there is something wrong with your trailer brake system. Its when you back up on the flat, or uphill, thats when they will lock up. Ive had the brake system lock up on me twice. Once on my 2006 CougarFTD trailer and once on my 2009 CougarFTD trailer. With the 06 it was the solenoid, with the 09 it was the plug that goes into the receptacle on my truck. One day it worked fine…the next day it didnt. Got a new plug and all was fine. Certainly it could be a pinched wire, opening and closing the tongue of the trailer, its really easy to crimp a wire if you arent careful.

I havent had any problems with mine, but just to be prepared Ive tried fooling around with the lock-out tool. For the life of me, I cant figure out how that works? It wont stay in place. Any tips?

Electrical tape to keep in place for backing up. Its supposed to be only for temporary use. Just remember that you have no trailer brakes if you forget to remove the key.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
