I thought the champion hull was a dead issue and Charger was using that hull.
There is no denying that BCB has made some awesome offerings in the last few years and the customer base seems satisfied thus far but I do see holes in the lineup from a price point perspective. I really think the companies like Skeeter and Phoenix are killing it right now with the 21′ package boat (zx250, 721). Unfortunately, BCB does not offer a boat that can compete with the size and pricing of these boats. What I would like to personally see in the future is a refresh of the Cougar/Puma. I never really saw the need for 3 different 20′ models while there was no good/economical 21′ offering. While the Lynx and Jaguar are awesome boats they are just too expensive for most. While I consider myself a BCB loyalist, I find myself not being able to find what I want in the BCB lineup as far as size, layout and price. For someone who wants a 21′ boat that is big and wide and can’t spend 70k, there is no option.
I don’t see those pre packaged boats being on the same level of quality of a Bass Cat Boat.
Also, the options we add to these boat greatly alters the cost. A 12″ Solix & Ultrex cost the same no matter what boat you attached them too..
Buy a slightly used promo boat.
We understand that some can’t buy what we bring out new and further down road something is in the plans, though much further down road.
We also understand long term financing is what prevents promo Boats from filling this niche. They can’t finanace those easily on the long term notes. Of course BCB has always been a proponent for 20% to 40% down before long term notes make sense.

While I totally understand that BCB makes a higher quality product there just isn’t an economical offering in the 21′ class of boat. I would like to see a 21′ offering that is similar to the Cougar Advantage promo. There are several brands offering 21′ class package boats in the sub 60k range. For me, it is probably going to force me into another brand. The Cougar isn’t big enough and I can’t afford the Lynx.
Ya get what you pay for.
That comment doesnt make sense. BC can obviously provide a Cougar to compete with the other 20′ package boats but dont have a 21′ to compete.
Actually development of new products costs and thus construction or materials must change. The percentage of a Margay or Pantera Classic net revenue which goes to three (3) prime vendors is almost double that percentage on higher priced Premium boats. We have a major challenge competing when products as equipment on a boat are the same price, and material costs are similar. Labor, overheads, raw materials and all are similar costs for a majority of product. While the Pantera Classic and Margay are saving some labor, it is not as significant a portion of the cost.
The only areas we have to get more reasonable on costs are ingredients of hard goods at lesser quality or construction. If we built boats with lesser carpeting as some do, vinyl that is less than half our cost per yard, resin that is AME-1001 base, Chinese fiberglass, composite (urethane) transoms, lesser gel coats (over $1 pound savings), 14″ tires standard on 20′ models (purpose on Margay/Pantera Classic), eliminate livewell valves and many more construction changes that will reduce costs. The last one is reducing margins and that is what most do on their bottom line up, as the other materials are often already gutted. They just tax the top end with more dollars in pricing.
It’s in the long term plans like the Pantera Classic was, though right now we are focused on offerings that are keeping the plant rolling as it is. Those are Premium model offerings as we are backlogged on orders now significantly. Thus upgrading the Premium lines of both brands is the goal now, just like the Lynx.
It’s a hard one…

Personally, I think having so many 20 ft offerings that are so similar is nice but not needed. In a perfect world, I wish the Cougar was stretched out to 20’7-21″ and widened. I look at the Caracal for example and know there is not 15k price difference in production when compared to the Lynx.

I’ll bet it’s close, when you consider the higher HP engine and all the extra components.
I’m was so happy with the quality of of my PII I didn’t consider another brand when ordering my Caracal (can’t wait to get it).
Keep doing what your doing BCB!
I just got my Caracal, I looked hard at the P and a little at the R brands, but after having a 2015 P2 and experiencing the ultra strong customer service from Richard and BCB there was no way I would order anything other than a Bass Cat. The Boat is just built better and knowing how they stand behind there product, it was the only choice.
I somewhat agree, the market is leaning toward 21′ rigs. However BCB has survived while others have failed. If the market continues to lean toward 21′ rigs, BCB will respond with proper engineering and design and not rush to market.
If your comparing the brand mentioned be sure you measure the actual fishing space from the nose back inside width. The results in the front end where you fish on any brand might surprise you. Remember we use five square feet when actually fishing.
BCB had the Jaguar in 2010 and it was and is bigger than most. At the time it was larger than anything in the market inside the deck. Wide and long might not actually be where you think, it’s a number not necessarily as you think. Just like the Lynx has 8” more running surface forward than the larger Jaguar. It where the numbers are you don’t see that count.
Perception might not be what one sees and we have seen one popular brand come up quick with a pointed nose deck and no inside room where one fishes. Just because it’s the number listed doesn’t make it bigger. BCB uses overall length, though our use of it is also putting parts or space to use in the overall length, BCB started with standard jack plates years ago and averaging it in with overall. Usable space matters and sticking it out either the front or rear just to measure is not necessarily more boat. Some are, though some are not.
