trickwormD, I came out of running “R” boats for several years to my very first experience with BCB, a 2006 PIV. The PIV will ride as well or better than any boat out there, even the larger ones in my opinion, but its all a factor of how you drive/run the boat. The PIV handles big rough water extremely well, although not while trying to cruise at WOT, but then again no boat does. Itll take some time to learn how your boat wants to hit that chop, where you need your outboard and tach running to roll over the waves but once you learn the particulars of your PIV, youll love the ride. It took me the better part of a year to learn how to run mine versus the heavier boats I was used to plowing with, but again, once you learn how to maneuver that boat, youll be impressed. If the steering is extremely hard, then you most likely do have the motor too high on the transom. I keep mine set where its got just a bit of tug to the wheel and then hardly ever trim it all the way up as just slightly below full trim gives me my best performance, i.e., 68 – 69 consistently with about 1/2 load, livewells empty. If Id get my prop cleaned up, I could squeeze another mph or two out of it as with a new 26P Trophy itll turn 71 – 72 with about 1/2 load.I think this hull is weight sensitive, mine seems to be. Having the saddle tanks full or empty makes a difference, having the livewells full makes a difference, every time you change the load in the boat by a couple hundred pounds, it changes how you drive it slightly, especially in rough water.Spend time running it and learn how she wants to be driven, youll like it.

Thanks Guys. Ive been outta hospital about a month now, long enough to realize there aint no fishing in my future, at least not from my boat. Man a stroke is the real deal with regards to hard, but Im very fortunate to be alive. Im doing good, can walk again but am one handed, left handed for now. My right side is paralyzed, but Ive gotta learn it all over again which will take awhile. Ill take you up on a day on Pickwick when I get better Joe. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts!

Thanks BCB, I knew you would have some good recommendations, as always! My boat will be fine, as always, whenever it is ready, it will be a welcome addition to my garage. Im mellowing in my older age, or maybe its that entire stroke thing that I went through/still going through for the past year and a half.THANKS!!!

Being as there is a $2,500.00 deductible on my Insurance, I hope there is no need to file a Insurance Claim. In 25 years of running bassboats, Ive never filed a claim, which is a pretty good indication of how I tend to treat a boat! Ive not heard back from my dealer yet, other to tell me what Mercurys position was. Maybe I should take the boat back to him, but it is hard to find the time to, 2.5 hour drive doesnt lend itself to my scheduling. I sent him a couple of pictures of it, and his feedback from Mercury is based on these pictures. My question is what does the cavitation plates do on a boat? Will it hurt anything, besides the handling of the boat to run it like this?I suppose that I could take the boat to a Mercury dealer closer to home, weve two top grade Mercury wrenchs right here at home, but I know theyre not as apt to try and get Mercury to carefully evaluate the casting on the Outboard as it should be done. Questions, questions….I appreciate the help, it is a unusual thing that has happened to my boat!
