Make sure the skeg is in line with the shaft. This section of the motor case can turn when bumped. This can cause a knock. If thats the case, and you feel its too loose, remove the prop and tighten the two bolts a bit.
If you heat set your paint with a heat gun, thats likely your problem. A hair dryer is a lot more forgiving. It sometimes takes weeks before the problem shows up.
