Thanks for the compliments on the color…Best I have done with a full load is 67. I know I could tweak with the prop and jackplate, but I have yet to touch the boat since I picked it up.

I will ditto the comments above, for 7 rods and above I would recommend rod covers of some sorts. I keep 3 rods that are 7 and 2 that are 73″ in the port side rod locker without any problems. You do need to use the inside holes for ease of use. I was surprised that the rod locker on my Sabre FTD would hold that many rods of that length, but it does. Just be careful because it is tight, but it will not cause any problems.

I am going to start by fixing the bad ground clip to the one gague and see what happens then. If that doesnt work, I just want to check the obvious stuff. If not, the great guys at Rockwall will get it fixed up. More than anything, I wanted to make sure it wasnt something obvious before I took it in. 08 Sabre FTD, 08 Mercury 175 Pro XS.

Just like you, my Sabre FTD w/ 175 Pro XS came with a 25 Tempest. It was not the right prop for my load… I run a fairly heavy load. After trying a 24 Tempest, 25 Tempest, 24 Trophy, 24 Trophy Plus, 25 Trophy Plus, 24 Fury and 25 Fury….I finally settled on a 24 Fury. For my load, and living in Texas, this prop has the best 4 season all around performance. Great hole shot, Max RPMS close to 5800 – 5900, and top end is 67 to 68 with a 2 person, full load…

I havent been able to find a plug that will fit, but I do have a homemade plug of sorts in there but I did make a plug of sorts with a rag like Phil suggested. Only a temp fix for sure but will work until I can get a new valve from parts.

I would love to see a picture as well. I have been wanting to put one on my FTD Sabre. Anyone have a picture on a FTD Sabre to share? Want to ensure the best placement.
