Thanks Bass Cat. I’ll see if I can try the Spitfire.

I’ve already tried lowering the motor and backing off of the trim.

I stopped by my Mercury dealer and he said that the Spitfire doesn’t come in a 20p. It comes in a 19 and 21. Which does Bass Cat recommend, the 21 for my setup?

    Wheelman:

Congrats on the new boat, do you have command thrust lower unit on yours? Local dealer with a Margay and CT gearing was able to swing a 24” Fury 3 and do 58mph in cool weather and light. If a Margay with a 150 is a 65mph boat, then I’d think a 115 would do atleast 50. The 115 Pro XS rev limiter is 6300, though even if you have the 2.33 gearing you’re over 30% slip at only 38mph. The laser prop is 13.5” in diameter, so it’s not little. I will say I did like the Spitfire prop on my old Triton with a smaller 4-stroke and they make an inexpensive aluminum version up to 23” you could try, hope that helps.

My 115 Pro XS is a command thrust

Ive got a 2020 Margay with a Mercury 115 Pro XS. I actually love the boat. The fit and finish couldn’t be better. I did a detailed review on the Ultimate Bass forum under the the BassCat group.

As far as the weight distribution, I usually fish by myself or bring my wife along with no issues. We are both pretty small in stature so I’m sure that makes a difference. When I took my 300 plus pound brother in law fishing, we really leaned to the passenger side because of the weight difference (I’m 165). I’m sure this would be an issue in any boat. I have the weight evenly distributed and have no issues by myself or with my wife or daughter.

I have a 70 lb. Minkota and it is perfect for what I need. I fish the St. John’s River in minimal current with no problems.

I had to go with the 115 and 3″ jack in order to fit everything in my garage. Pay attention to your prop as my top end isn’t where I want it to be yet so I’m trying to find the right prop(s) to test.

I’d be glad to help or answers any questions.

I have a center seat for my Margay. It was an option. I would contact Bass Cat. I’m sure that they would hook you up.

Check out the Tote-Rite motor bracket. It’s specifically made for 4 Strokes. I’ve got that on my Margay and love it!

Take a look at AMPD Marine. They have a really cool set of boxes to hold 3600 and 3700 size boxes. You can buy different sets and attach them together based on what you want. I’ve been considering them for my Margay.

I’ve tried a bunch of different props for my Margay with a Merc 115 Pro XS. I ended up driving myself crazy so I called Hydromotive Marine who I had heard on the Bass Talk Live talk show. I gave them all my numbers and measurements and they got me dialed in on my best setup through trial and error. I was really happy with their level of customer service.  I ended up with a PowerTech prop that I ordered from them.
