What you are seeing in high-tech electronics is a revolution driven by the dramatic improvement of low-powered chips and touchscreen technology driven by mobile phones. While I would say that most advancements in mobile phones are now less dramatic, even boring, that is not the case for electronics in our boats and motors.
I would guess that we’re in the middle of the classic technology S-curve where high-tech is still climbing rapidly, and soon the slope will curve to a lesser slope. The chips will get faster and faster and use less and less power as they borrow tech from the mobile market. The touch screens will become better and better with denser pixels. Then, just like on mobile phones, AI and machine learning will be used to improve the technology even more. The same with trolling motors, as we can see, they too are advancing fast.
I have no experience with the advancement of material sciences, but I can only guess that pleasure and bass boats will be made with graphite materials soon enough. Perhaps trailers will be constructed of graphite. Who knows.
How about hulls that change shape as they move from the hole shot to high speed, all calculated by onboard computers? How about bass boats with customizable deck layouts?
We’re heading into massive technological changes even as our society is breaking down. I hope we can continue to enjoy the outdoors with our fast-moving bass boats that we can tow to the lake with our strong pickup trucks. Some in society would take that away from us.
Do you get much dirt and gravel in your boats? That is an issue here for many of our lakes, meaning we have less then completely developed ramps and staging areas or have to get into boats without docks. The gravel and dirt embeds into the carpet.
I have yet to order my boat, so I don’t have any cleaning instructions that I assume I will get.

I have the basic net with telescoping handle. After a lot of experimenting I’ve found just putting vertical against the outside of the co’s little rod locker with handle out just enough the back the bungy designed for co’s rods catches the handle. Simple and easy access. It works for me anyway.
Could you kindly post a photo of what you are describing?
I believe I understand.
But that isn’t good for the co-angler if I understand it correctly.
I’ve ordered a 2023 Caracal and hope the Bass Cat has solved the net storage hang up issue in newer models.
You have a hit on your hands with the Puma STS. I can see it in action in the Bass Cats by Serial Number: Puma, Puma, Puma, another model, Puma, Puma, Puma, Puma, another model. Simply fantastic.
With that said, looking forward to my Caracal, which should be in production now based on the information when I ordered. I needed a shorter boat to fit the garage and loved the wide deck!

Rick commented on another medium and said the Caracal is not discontinued but in the future will only be sold as SP package. You won’t be able to just or boat and trailer. Will still be a premium model but with better electronics and so on. It appears that soon the only models that will have the rod locker left middle or center will be the Caracal SP and Classic unless BCB decides on a Lynx SP model like the Caracal. Personally I would not go back to conventional deck lay out. Not having rod locker buried under rods on deck just makes so much sense and makes keeping deck uncluttered so much easier. BTW – If anyone is looking for a late model Lynx in mint condition that has had kid glove care contact Paul at CR Marine in Schenectady (they are a BCB dealer). Believe it’s listed on here under boats for sale.
I just recieved my 2023 Caracal. I picked the Caracal for two reasons, beyond the overall Bass Cat quality. The 19′ 8″ fits into my garage, and the deck layout. If I could fit a 20′ boat I would have selected the Lynx.
Looking that the Caracal STS layout, I would have done the following: Put the rod locker down the center. Then the two side deck hatches would be for tackle and other storage. The side hatches that allow for rods to remail in place on the deck is outstanding, so keep the offset.
It would be interesting if BCB would offer two different deck options. One as currently designed and one designed as I suggested.
Also, it would be great if the Caracal STS with trailer be no longer that the Caracal SP or the Eyra.
Hi,
I’m a new 2023 Caracal owner. The lights flashing is a feature not a bug. The system is trying to alert you that there is a lid open. A power off and on will reset the alert.
Not sure why this alert works the way it does. If you have a hatch open, I would assume it would be obvious. If you had a hatch ajar, but mostly closed, how would you see the lights flashing?
It needed some lube because the foot peddle was binding. Seems strange that would happen being it is brand new. What is the best spray lube to use on the bushings?
Ace at Wickenburg Marine is highly recommended by the members in out bass club, Midweek Bass. No brainer if on the north or west side of town.

Ok great. I’m in Phoenix, do you have the new Bass Cat dealer in place yet?
Went to the garage to video what I was seeing, hit the main power switch in the bilge, then the toggled the power switch, and all the panel lights lit up. It’s back in working order. Maybe it fully dried out. Who knows.
