Nice catch on the brakes. Margay models do not come with brakes though we do suggest brakes on the trailers, especially in your case. MargayTrailerEngineBatteriesGearFuelPropellerElectronicsTrolling motorThat puts you just under 3,000 gross This is making me nervous now. My Margay should be coming in soon, I estimated originally before buying it, that it wold come in around 2400 pounds, I forgot a couple little things, but also factored in what I though was some excess. I bumped up my estimate of the trailer to 600 lbs yielding:Margay, 1250, ||Trailer, 600, ||Engine, 375, ||Batteries, 180, ||Gear, 50, ||Fuel, 169, ||Propeller, 20, ||Electronics, 10, ||Trolling motor, 40, || , , || , 2694, ||This is very very close to my rated capacity, am I grossly underestimating something? I tried to google weights for as much stuff as possible. My engine is 115 proXS. Now the exact same car as mine is rated to 4000 pounds in Europe, identical mechanically, so I think even if Im a tad over I probably could just keep it at 60 or under and be fine. Gear will probably go up (quickly) over time, but right now I bet I only own 20 pounds of fishing gear.
I mainly noticed the driver. I used to work with him for 3 years and he got me into bass fishing, and helped sell me my boat.
More particular Im looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/Attwood-Heavy-Tra … nsom+saver it has 3 different lengths, Im hope the 32/44 inch one would work (its the cheapest), but want to make sure its not too long (I never measure my old one, but 28″ seems a bit closer to what I would have guessed it was).
Anybody? BCB? Will the 32″ work?
Thanks for the answers guys. I went with the 32/44, if needed Ill just trim it down.
Good to know. I think I have to wait either way, Chris isnt going to sell me his used ones tell he gets his new ones. Guess I have plenty of time to make up my mind.
Option D: Get the HDS-7 gen3 units today, save almost $2k, no waiting. (maybe get a power pole with the savings? Or a couple new rods and reels).
I think I finally decided on option E: get one HDS-7 gen3 now, tackle warehouse can have it on my doorstep by friday. And get one HDS-9 gen3 whenever they are available. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I do think Im going to give spotlight scan a shot. I have read some mixed reviews, some people like it, some people say its worthless. But I think in the end it might just have a bit of a learning curve. If it doesnt work out Ill switch the HDI tranducer and put the spotlight one on ebay.
So, I ended up cutting the old transducer off (ouch), I could see no way to get the connector to feed down the 1/4″ gap between the transom and the jackplate. I got the unit mounted in the console, and all the wires run (maybe I will end up doing the whole job myself). But not I have another question for the Bass Cat experts. I ordered a tranducer sheild and saver from bass cat via bowden marine, and picked it up today. Not really sure how to procede. I have a slidemaster jack plate. The long plates on the side of the jack plate that have the slider master label on them run too far down on the right side for the transducer shield to go under it, it would have to be cut. But the one on the left side is short. Can I just switch these out? Can I have all 4 bolts undone at the same time putting the entire motor wieght on the threaded rod height adjustment? Is the some guidelines for where to attach the L bracket? Anyone have a picture?Last edited by RedDragonz on February 28th, 2015, 1:41 am, edited 1 time in total.
Mine didnt come with any directions, guess I should contact Tranducer Shield and Saver and ask for them.
Your picture helped a bunch. I think it came out pretty good. I used button head cap screws instead of the provided hardware, I think they look nicer. Also used a #10-24 screw on the top instead of 1/4-20, this allowed me a little bit of an adjustment. Last edited by RedDragonz on March 2nd, 2015, 3:16 am, edited 1 time in total.
