Its actually bogging down on the hole shot when loaded, but over revving on the hole shot when lightly loaded. That kinda makes the prop plug issue difficult…
Thanks for the advice!
I recently purchased a transom saver from Largemouth Lou, and couldnt be happier! I purchased the “short” version for my 2014 Eyra and it fits perfect. If you have any questions feel free to contact Lou @ largemouthlou@aol.com. Hes a pleasure to deal with and hell be more than happy to assist you in whatever way possible. Good Luck!
What brand and size trolling motor do you have on your boat?
Is the unit still available?
My Mercury mechanic claims he hooked the laptop to it and cant find anything indicating the problem. I know that he just replaced a “tracker diaphragm” and told me that this would FIX the problem. Well I took it to the lake and hit the key, it fired, smoked, and stalled within (5) seconds. I hit the key again and it cranked but did NOT fire. Hit the key a third time, it cranked and did NOT fire. Finally, I hit the key and it fired! It smoked a LITTLE bit but idled very rough. I turned the key back off and then on and it fired and idled fine! It runs beautiful after the initial start.
I used the boat twice since the mechanic replaced the diaphragm and the first time out the motor started extremely rough! I hit the key and it fired, ran for about two seconds and shut off! The motor acted as though it was flooded. I turned the key a second time and it cranked but did NOT fire. I repeated the process and the motor cranked once again without firing. Finally, the next time it started and ran a little rough. I turned the motor off and restarted it and it idled beautifully! The boat ran perfect the rest of the day. I called the dealership and told the mechanic my experience. I asked if he thought that it could be a leaking injector or the fuel rails and he said that the computer diagnostics indicated that it was the diaphragm. He said if I wasnt happy with the performance that I should bring it back to the shop, an hour and a half away, and he would take another look at it.I hooked the muffs up to the motor the next day at the house and it did start the first time, however it did idle a little rough.I usually experience my poorest performance when the motor sits for a couple days between use. Im going to try the motor once again tomorrow at home to see how it performs after sitting 3-4 days. If the problem persists, well I guess its back to the dealership.
I just got word from the dealership that I had a bad #4 coil. The dealership replaced the coil which Im sure was causing the 20 amp “ignition coil” fuse to blow. Somehow I have to wonder though if that would have played any part in the “rough starting” of the engine?
Thanks for the positive feedback!
I got the Eyra back from the dealership this morning with what is believed to be a clean bill of health. I left the boat at the dealership for a few extra days after the ignition coil was fixed in hope that the motor would start rough and so on…The mechanic started the motor this morning and it fired immediately, reved up and stalled. After cranking it several times, the motor fired and idled rough. The mechanic found that there was a diaphragm in the fuel rail that was cracked. I I will report the success of this latest repair as soon as I can get the boat in the water and try it. We have currently experienced flash flooding here in central Pennsylvania which may prohibit me from trying it out until later next week due to high water levels.
I wanted to let everyone know that I put the Merc through the test, and it runs like a dream! Hit the key after the boat sat for five days due to flash flooding, fired up and idled beautifully… The problem was a cracked “fuel rail diaphragm”.Thanks to the staff at Halls Marine for the proper diagnosis and timely resolution!
The boat was purchased new from Bass Cat in 2014. The speedo has NEVER worked.
Raystown Lake south central Pennsylvania most recently.
Thanks Cajunhunter67! The only wires that I found running down the left side trailer C-channel were:
BROWN- tail/marker lights
YELLOW- left turn/brake
BLUE- electric brakes?
No WHITE ground wire.
I have a 2014 Bass Cat Eyra which is also kept in a controlled climate that is experiencing the same problem. Is there anything that can be done to reverse this process, or to remove the “milky” white blemishes across the top of the c channel?
