Especially on the Interstate. I just got a length of rubber coated chain with screw links at each end and chained the bow eye to the ring right below it on the trailer tongue. Recently replaced it with a boatbuckle for convenience though. Just as a safety precaution in the event of a mishap or a winch problem (or winch user error).

Don’t forget to figure in 200 (33 gal) to 300 (52 gal) lbs for gas and 150 lbs in batteries, not to mention tackle. I’ve always considered it 3500-3800 lbs gtw.

Similar situation here; bought the backup light after the fact and intend to install. Found no wire pre-run in the trailer harness but did find the blue wire with an open-ended connector in the swing away tongue and presumed this was for the wire to the backup light.Where exactly should the hole be drilled for the mounting bolt of the light on the back of the trailer and is there anything to consider when connecting and running the wire from the blue wire connector to the light? Thanks much.DarrenDeke

Right after the lock-n-stow came out there sure were an awful lot of them that showed up in Bass Pro Shops catalog outlet store; i.e. returned merchandise. Most looked bent some to me.

If you do go the PIV route (I have one), make sure you get the 2 10 gallon saddle tanks that are on option on the PIV. That’ll give it 52 gallons, which the Puma comes standard with. Even if you don’t think you’ll use it now, you’re likely to change your mind later and better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Plus I think it’s a pretty big selling point to have them if you ever go to sell the boat.

I’ve never been in a Puma but with the PIV saddle tank option making the two equal on gas capacity, I just can’t see much difference between the two beyond what’s already been mentioned. And speaking as an owner of one, there just ain’t a more perfect floating fishing platform made than the brilliantly designed PIV!

Nah, Somehow in the Cal2 of the Speedo the paddle wheel sensor question was answered “yes”. So it thinks that you have a paddle wheel sensor but it can’t find it connected to the oil/gas tank harness. Go back through Cal2 on the Speedo and answer “No” when it asks “paddle speed?”. You might check what you have set for “pitot speed” because it asks that right next to it and someone may have mistakenly answered “No” to it as well.

Aw shucks! I’ll definitely appreciate the AR rod though and the help you’ve been in finding it.

BCB:

I would think that a dedicated smallmouth rod would be in order as well. One that’s fine-tuned to the sensitivity needed for hopping tubes and stuff slowly across gravel and rock-strewn flats.

Anyway, Tony Bean once said that the perfect smallmouth rod was no longer than 6′. Don’t know that I necessarily agree with that but I do seem to prefer shorter spinning rods for this.

Daiwa USED to make such a rod even designed by Tony Bean, the original PowerMesh TD601-2RSC, that many consider to be the pinnacle of smallmouth rods ever made. I gave $80 or so for one at Wal-Mart well over 20 years ago and recently sold it on ebay for $175 even stating that the cork foregrip had been damaged and reglued and showing it in the pictures.

Maybe it’s a little too niche and light for your target rod customer but there’d definitely be a market in the smallmouth states for such a rod.

Just a thought…

Basscatman:

I have an old burgundy & black Team Daiwa 6′ topwater rod with the black foam in a pistol grip that I bought about 20 years ago and still use to this day. It’s from the exact same PowerMesh line as the Tony Bean smallmouth rod I mentioned above, though it was cork handled. If that’s the same ones you’re talking you’re right, they were some awesome rods.

You might try using a handle wrap to achieve the same effect.

Yes sir…I never would have sold mine except I saw one before mine go for that much. So I then saw a ‘want it now’ post on ebay for one and I contacted the guy through ebay that I put mine up for auction. I even stated that the cork had split and been reglued. He said hbe didn’t care. I soon got several requests for a ‘buy it now’ but left it up for auction. Amazingly it went for $167 + $15 shipping. And the guy was tickled to death to get it!
I think there’s still a ‘want it now’ out there now too.

I think a 17 hull would be a great addition to the line; sort of a revival of the Caracal or Margay; cept call it a Bobcat. I like American stuff, and bobcats are even local to Arkansas; and I saw one just three weeks ago on the Buffalo River. However, BCB already updated their history list with the following:”20 Euro Style Hull 2008 thru”So well just have to see what “euro style” means and what the name will be. My bet…Jaguar?DekeDeke
