I have a Detwiler jackplate on my 07 Puma and I have had a similar issue in trying to grease the fitting on the port side of the boat. The problem that I have is the entire cylinder has rotated away from the hole that you would use and the zerk fitting now faces the center of the jackplate. I called Detwiler, and the gentleman I spoke with suggested that I grab a wrench or crows foot socket, put itand rotate the entire cylinder back to the original position. Im fairly mechanically inclined, but I cant see a way to get a wrench or crows foot socket in there to grab hold of the fitting to, not to mention that I dont think the zerk fitting could handle that pressure being applied on it. I had to drop the boat off for a warranty issue with my trim & tilt, so I asked the guy to look at it. Not sure if hell be able to figure it out.

I went through a similiar event two weeks ago when I was checking out the boat (2007 Puma) before our first tournament. My pump out wasnt working, and neither was the aerator or the recirc (cant remember which one). I originally thought I had a problem with the panel, and began checking voltage at the butt connectors of each pump. What I came to realize is that I wasnt checking the correct pumps. It wasnt until I checked all the pumps did I find the correct butt connectors for the pump out. Turns out I had voltage at the connectors, and the pump was in fact frozen. Changed out the pumps and all is good now.

I had the same issue, and for months thought that it was my truck. I had a Nissan Titan at the time, and had to purchase a couple of relays from the dealer since the truck didn’t come with the Big Tow package when I originally purchased it. I was so angry at the truck for the issue, and had tried everything (testing solenoid, changing fuses, etc), that I went out and bought a Duramax, against the little lady’s wishes. Got the new truck home, plugged in the 7 wire round, and tried to back up the boat…guess what, brakes were still locking up. The only place I didn’t check was in the round plug itself. The wire that handles the reverse lights was hanging on by one strand of copper. I rewired the plug, and voila, the boat can now travel in reverse. Needless to say, I did not and have not to this day told my dear wife of my mistake. She’d want me to get rid of the Duramax if that was the case, but I’m having too much fun with the power to let her in on the secret.

I have a 2007 250 ProXS, and had similar problems earlier in the year, except to a higher degree. It was bogging down as I tried to get on plane, running rough and would only top out at 4500-5000 rpm. Blown coil was the culprit. Thankfully still under warranty. When I took it into my mechanic, he told me that Merc wanted to replace all 6 coils, which was fine with me. Id make sure they do the same thing with yours. PS – I cant tell you what a difference a competent mechanic will make. He was able to diagnose the problem after a 3 minute phone conversation. If youre anywhere near Chicago, I have the guy for you. Hes worth the drive.

I had a 2008 Chevy 2500 and I used a 5″ drop to tow my Puma with no issues. Ride height was about 20″. I still have the drawbar to fit the 2 1/2″ receiver if you need. Id make you an excellent deal if you are interested. Lost my job, and it was either the truck or the cat that had to go. Boy I miss diesel power!

2007 puma, i mounted the speakers under the consoles on each side of the boat. on the passenger side, i used the access port (if you needed to access the screws that hold the console on). On the driver side, i cut a fresh hole. Make sure you have enough clearance so you dont cut through the hull. Btw, i mounted the docking port on the console in place of the small touchpad, i just had to enlarge the hole to get the port to fit. I relocated the small touchpad where the jackplate gauge was ( wasnt working anyways).

I had a titan and had the same issue. I needed two contacts from the dealer to activate the solenoid on the trailer. They mount in one of the fuse boxes under the hood. $60 or so for both contacts. Also, disassemble your 7 round connector on the trailer and make sure the blue wire is securely connected to the center pin. I had that issue too.

I have the detwiler jackplate, and i mounted my xducer to the bottom edge of the plate that mounts to the transom. Starboard side. There was a hole already there. Im pretty sure that is where I mounted it, then again the boat is in storagefor a few more weeks.

Had a titan with similar issues. Needed to add two relays under the hood to get the reverse solenoid to release. Also had issues w running lights. Two relays solved the problem. Im not sure of the part number, but they were mounted in the secondary electrical box. Hope this helps, I know it frustrated me. I also had a loose wire in the 7 pin round connector on a second occasion, so you may want to double check that as well.
