Thanks for the input. Mine is a standard Sabre (not the FTD). I hear the Sabre FTD has a much wider deck.

So do the PII and PIV actually require the same amount of space? Id love to have a PIV but in my mind a little scared that Id be pushing it seeing as the boat is longer. Not to start a whole other topic but generally speaking, how much top speed do you give up on a PIV vs PII? I know there are a ton of variables, etc. but just your average PIV vs average PII. I can handle 3 – 5 mph but more than that may require some thought.

Brought the new to me Pantera II home today and it fit with more than a foot to spare! FYI it has Yahmaha HPDI and 6″ jack plate. Thanks for the peace of mind before purchase.

My father has a 2004 Sabre and I just bought a 2008 PII. After having fished tournaments out of the Sabre for a long time, here are a few comparisons/comments about the two boats. Once again, jusy my opinion and not bashing either as both are great boats. The biggest factors that drove me to getting out of the Sabre and into a PII were: 1) The front deck is shorter and narrower than the PII which really comes into play while fishing. In the Sabre, I really could only lay rods on one side or the other of the deck because the reels and handles basically are under your feet. Stack the rods on both sides or have pedistal seat in and you dont have much room to stand. 2) Rod boxes are too short to accomodate many of the 7+ rods (especially spinning rods). Your basically have to put your longest rods closest to the keel as the tubes seem a little longer there. I think it holds a total of seven or eight rods in the box. I still had one spinning rod that would not fit in the box period. 3) If you do go with a Sabre I would definately not reccommend a second console. Gets pretty tight getting between the two no matter how small you are which can get hairy when net get called for. 4) Speed – top speed is 61 mph (150 merc XR6, 59 mph loaded) which was a little slow for me. 5) Single storage box in center front deck – really nice to be able to split your gear up between two boxes simply for organizational purposes. Having said all that I realize that most of these comments are simply related to the fact the boat is an 18 boat and its not fair to compare to a larger boat. The boat is great for an 18 boat and I dont think youll find a better riding or built boat in that class. I have no issues with any of the prior comments on the PII. Lots of front deck space, 9 full length rods fit in each box, no second console so I cant compare, top speed 73 mph, and two center storage boxes up front. The back deck and storage boxes really dont feel much larger IMO.

Just noticed you mentioned the classic as well. Main reason I went with the PII as opposed to classic is that even though the overall beam width is similar, the front deck on the PII is raised and wider than classic. My understanding is that the width of the front deck on classic will feel more like the Sabre and PII more like Sabre FTD. Not 100% about this so correct me if Im wrong BCB.

I live near the lake and fish it fairly often. Jordan is a relatively small, pretty deep, river run, rocky lake. There are a good number of largeheads in the lake but mostly know for the big spots. Mid-Feb the fish will be starting to group up before heading in to spawn. It sounds obvious but its really as simple as hitting as many rocky points on main lake and coves until you find a group of fish. Be sure and check retaining walls too as those big spots love them. Most folks fish shakey heads, finesse jigs, and other typical spot lures and do well. Also heard of good sacks on the A-rig this winter. Keep in mind you are headed into prime tournament time and that lake gets packed on Saturday so avoid if you can. Youll be a little early for the spawn so it should not be too crowded. Jordan, like most river lakes, can be screwy and can change day to day but is more predicatable that time of year as long as it is not high and blown out. Hope that helps a little.

Run hooks through swivels of other baits on the rig or use garbage bag twist ties just above baits. Best I can come up with so far.

Nope. Jordan is as easy as they come to run in a boat especially with map card. As on any lake, be careful if you run all the way up below Mitchel Dam for current and rocks. By all the way up I mean once you go under the bridge up top.

If transducer is not blocked by anything then probably bad ducer. I had the same thing on my 997. Humminbird sent me a new ducer free no questions asked!

I had same kind of issue with my 997. Im running a y cable and using an in hull ducer for 2D and ducer on back for imaging. Mine started giving me problems when I would run at high speeds or get into deeper water. All of the sudden would quit giving depth readings or the 1 readings like you reported but oddly enough the side imaging still worked fine. Sometimes if I turned unit off it would correct the problem but not always and I originally thought it was Y cables fault. However, having the Y cable helped to narrow down that it might be a problem with 2D ducer or sonar settings. Went into 2D settings and I believe I limited the max depth setting for the 2D sonar. Have not had a single issue since. I can check my settings and report back when I get home I you think it will be helpful?

I second importance of quality of physician and multiple opinions especially on a surgery of this importance. I had discectomy and laminectomy about four years ago at 28 yrs old after seeing four doctors and have been good since. Dont rule out travelling to see best doctor you can find. Seen too many friends and family settle for local care for convenience against their better judgement and have poor results.

I know, I was worried about scratches too. No scratches though and very impressed with results. Thats why I pre-cleaned screen to get dust, etc. off first and tried edges first. Last thing I want is $2500.00 of scratched screen. I tried all other tricks, vinegar, microfiber, etc. that worked in the past and nothing would get them off. These were really bad, like they were baked on there by sun and were very annoying. I keep a microfiber towel in the boat and screen cleaning solution for day to day use. I know others have their own tricks and for me this was a last resort when nothing else worked. Probably should be last resort as if not used properly could do some damage.
