Love the caracal. Don’t want to spring the $ for the caracal. With wife in grad school and Seattle area mortgage well ya know….Just want to get peoples thoughts and opinions about this boat before I pull the trigger even if they are biased.
Thanks
I’d suggest maybe a new dealer. Waiting on mine…. I have no idea when it’s coming…. Would love to know. Hoping it comes in with the dealers order end of September but I don’t think there has been word on it yet. The wait is very painful.
Oh I’m sure I will. My local lake is Lake Washington. That thing turns into a giant bowl of waves pretty much from fall until spring.
Finally news. Actually not a very long wait. maybe 1.5-2 months. Idk. lost track of time. Dealer said next Friday!!!
how long does that take?
Looks like the compartments on my P Classic. Heavy rain or stuff a wave and I have 2-6″ of water sloshing around and have to remove everything and dry it out. Nothing like having tackle boxes full of water rusting hooks. I think this guys suggestions are spot on.

I am definitely interested to see what the cause of this is.
Something is definitely not right
wonder if anyone from BassCat will reply? Going to the dealer one of these days but they’re busy right now and its not a super pressing issue.

Sometimes the moderator in place doesn’t have the knowledge Required, thus they don’t post on some topics.
The above ^ poster is probably on track. This is likely the vent line drooped below the tank top. That is what traps the fuel in the vent line and the pressure then relieves the fuel under air pressure from inside the tank.
We will have production and QC Engaged on this one. This may be from production and also the rigger doing the batteries installation have shifted lines in the past.

Ok looked at my bilge. This is definitely one of my problems. I see how it is routed on the bottom and has a slight dip in it. I’ll fix that and see what if any difference that makes. Thanks for the photo.

After looking this is definitely one of my issues so I will re-route the hose.

JPCAT, I’m on my 5th BassCat and have not once had an issue with any water intrusion in any compartment that is deemed watertight. I know a few have had water come in thru open latches or when the boat I’d left parked in a bow down position some water could get into rod lockers but that’s and easy fix, just don’t park boat bow down and make sure latches are closed. I have fished in pouring rain and never had water get in rod lockers thru the holes for passenger rod butts/holders. I believe those holes simply drain into the bilge.
One of the main reasons I like BassCat so much is because of how well these things are thought out. Everything has a reason, and usually it’s a really good reason. Personal preference is different for everyone. Some like hotfoot position high some like it low, many don’t like it at all.
I think you will find that those on this board want to help. I’m thinking any of the issues you brought up are pretty easy fixes with the exception of lowering the hotfoot but I’m guessing guys will have a fix for that too.
im pretty sure that your suggestions/comments are being read by the design team right here on this board so no worries about them going unheard.
Enjoy your BassCat!
Any time I fish in very heavy rain or stuff a wave all of my front compartments fill up with 2-4″ of water and if the wave is big enough I’ve had them fill up almost completely. I just keep a shop vac near by now.
Wheelman:
Fury from my experience just doesn’t have a lot of natural lift, it’s great when the boat is light and the DA is low though the Tempest has much better lift as a 3-blade. I’d recommend trying it in 1” pitch higher than the Fury that works well for your set up to be at the same rpms/speed.
I had a tempest. 24. It was worse for me. Ran great at 0′ but when I get to 1000′ it wouldn’t lift at all. It would just make me plow at 50mph
I am going to try a 23 4XL and go from there.
