According to what came out of the dealer meeting if you purchase a Cat w/ a Mercury it comes with a 5 yr warranty until at least the end of the year. So yes your new order boat should have 5 years on the Mercury engine. Good luck and glad to hear youre purchasing both a BCB and a Mercury outboard!
Sir, insofar as quality, dependability, looks, ride, speed, ect. you cant go wrong with a BCB/Mercury Comb. but get that warranty, 5 years, wrapped up with your dealer in writing “before” any checks are signed, period, end of story. I really dont care who says what. Over the years Ive seen too many guys get burned on the, it should be or the “maybes”! Good Luck, Chuck
A 2008 would be an inventory boat and this does not have the standard Mercury Warranty priced into it that the 2009 models have. There are a couple of dealers that have agreed to assisting BCB in the warranty purchase. We think that your purchasing dealer would be able to negotiate with the inside BCB Sales Staff on that. They can expect to pay a portion of the warranty though. All 2009 model year Mercury product sold as Retail has a 5 year Mercury Product Protection Plan. We understand the BRP is in the works on one possibly and Yamaha has not offered to match the plan to BCB direct.
Thanks for the reply, its great to be able to get answers from the source. I figured that was the case, but some of the previous threads read like it could be on all “new” purchases. My last 5 boats (with Yamahas) were bought during the incentive periods. This will be my first new Merc since a 98 EFI and my first Cat and as mentioned earlier the extended protection plan is a must. Ill bring it up with Reed when I get up there in the next couple of days. Its not going to affect my choice though (just my pocketbook).>`·._ .·´Ż>`·. _ .·´Ż·. >

Not the answer to your question, but you could always edit the title to say “SOLD” to avoid the calls.

There you go. Have a great evening! BCB
The lamps is 50 volts, and the transformer has the number on it. The wattage would be tied to that lamp and we do not recall the regulation of amperage. The EL lightpad is a custom unit. BCB

You can probably still have a dealer install done. Probably trying to keep costs down and while some people do use them, I have had 3 Cats with the battery gauge and never counted on them except on dry land. All three of the ones I have had would show 1/2 charge on one battery, full charge on the other. I could change the batteries over, both new Optimas, and the gauge would still show the same thing, even on the one that was fully charged.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
The gauges were somewhat outdated, and the switches were requiring separate wiring to the bow. In the original set up, the gauge was run off the wires for the batteries at the bow, as there were four wires up there. The newer system only has two wires, and the conversions are done in the bilge area. You could add a gauge, and we do have one for the rear on the battery chargers we now have. That will not be available in the future either due to low use. It was originally standard on CMR chargers, though very seldom was one mounted. Thus now due to lower usage we are eliminating the present ability to monitor batteries. You would still be able to add one in. BCB
