How does this compare to a 26 tempest? I run one on a classic and still turn 6000 rpms.

My 97 classic is very hard to turn to the left also. But it is hard to turn at any speed. It is a new anti-feedback rack system bought about 2 years ago. I have taken the cables loose from the motor, helm turns fine and so does the motor. Let me know if this is the same problem, I am confused?

cmegee, the motor is in really good shape, dont have compression numbers, but about a year ago they were 115-118 on all cylinders. it runs 71 gps on my classic with a 26 tempest, two guys, full tank of gas, fishing stuff. I bet most of it is in your prop. Some walking may be little experience driving at wot. Get someone to help you with both issues and leave the jack plate where there is good water pressure and little torque a wide open throttle.
