Having fished Amistad and Falcon frequently, I can tell you that the Jaguar is the perfect choice for those lakes as they both catch more wind than the average lake and both being so large, they can get very rough in a hurry. Also, because most of your fishing will be done in open water, theres no need for a smaller boat to get into tight places. The bigger the boat, the better, on those 2 lakes. Bass Cat makes the strongest boat on the market in my opinion. They are the only bass boat manufacturer to use the vacuum process when attaching the top cap to the hull. This process increases the overall strength of the boat substantially. They also have the strongest transom in the industry. There is a picture floating around out there that shows a motor that was completely ripped off of a Bass Cat when the driver hit a stump, but the transom is still totally intact. They also use the best materials in the business and you will see that when you see a 10 year old Bass Cat that looks like its still brand new. The carpet, gel coat, etc… are all of the highest quality and you can definitely see the difference when your boat gets some age on it.As for your electronics choices, I would personally go with Humminbird as they have proven to be a more reliable unit for the last few years. For trolling motors, that one is about dead even if you ask me. The one thing that I feel is a necessity though is to get a trolling motor with a long shaft for those lakes because when it gets rough, and it will, you need that extra length to keep your prop in the water while your boat is bouncing up and down.If Motor Guide, get the 50″ shaft. If Minn Kota, get the 52″ shaft.
