Brian and Phil, you guys both make great points. Im a very indecisive person in my daily life, nevermind picking out a boat. It honestly makes it more difficult when you like every boat in the lineup. I probably need to just go ahead with it. The longer I wait, the more times Ill change the color scheme, or add/remove options on the boat. Keep the ideas rollin in fellas!

Robert,Theres a post I read on here the other day, written by BCB, interviewing their Elite pros, asking their opinion on what each hull offers and what makes them different. One pro did say the same thing about the Eyra, cant remember if it was a holeshot/load thing or if it was about handling in big water. I cant remember the title, but do a search. It was a great article!Sam

As long as all are in about the same shape, I would look hard at the 2010 model that is priced about the same as one that is 3 years older. Plus if Im not mistaken, the 2010 model will have be a different hull than the 2007 model. Someone will need to verify that, Im not sure it was the cougar and puma or just the cougar that was updated after 2008. As far as the 225, I just bought an Eyra with a 225. The price was definitely a big factor, but Im very happy so far. I realize that the Eyra and Puma are different hulls, but this rig has plenty of speed and acceleration, especially since I normally carry a light load.

BWP77, any idea where you saw that video? I tried several searches on YouTube and found nothing. It would definitely help me to get an explanation of how to do it.

Congrats! Was it a dealer stock boat, or did you order it?

Most people dont like the idea of it, but if someone isnt planning to keep a boat more than a couple years, a longer term on a loan is a viable option with good credit and a decent down payment. Im no financial expert, but from what Ive seen, credit score, credit history, and loan-to-book value all becomes a factor. Shop around with some of the larger national banks, maybe even go through a lending company to do that for you. They do charge for their services, but if someone is looking to spend $40K or more on a boat, then a $300-500 fee will easily be out-weighed by shaving a couple points off of your rate, which they can likely do for you. You might be surprised how low of an interest rate you could qualify for through the right lender.

I may be wrong, but the way I look at it is that a nice bass boat, whether its brand new, or relatively new, is an investment. Everyone looks at things from a different perspective, but I personally would rather spend more money on a boat than, say a pickup truck. Some will argue that a boat wont get you to work like a truck will, but the best auto manufacturers, such as Toyota for example will see more depreciation than a high end boat brand such as Bass Cat. If we viewed other forms of capital, whether it be cars, homes, clothing, etc., we wouldnt buy anything, because everything costs more money now than ever. I hate it as much as anyone, but its far beyond our control. There are many scenarios in which spending a little more on a boat can be beneficial in my point of view. The banks are extending term length on boats just like they have on cars, to keep the payment down where its either manageable, or to the point that the sticker shock doesnt drive someone away. I know plenty of people that could afford a $800-900 boat payment, but cant get past the idea of a $400 boat payment on something that gets used 1 or 2 days a week at best. You can spend less on another brand, but I have learned that lesson the hard way. The comparable boat from another brand that is 10-15% less initially will depreciate by the same amount in a few years. Another factor to consider that, in my opinion, sets BCB apart from all other brands is that now you see every major boat builder coming out with special pricing on package boats, just to compete in sales of a certain size rig with a major competitor. All that does is screw the owners who purchased a boat the previous year. It will take several years for skeeter owners to recover their resale value since they introduced these package deals on the ZX series. The same can be said about what Triton is doing with the TRX 20. I agree that both of those boats are fine rigs and come at a good price with the equipment installed, but I do believe that is something we as BCB owners will never have to worry about. Another thing to consider when weighing the expenses is that I can tell you from experience that the bitter taste of constantly working on a 2-4 year old boat lasts a lot longer than the sweet taste of know you saved $5-7K from what you wouldve spent on a premium boat. If you plan to keep the boat for several years, dont be afraid to make a drive out of state to get a boat either! All dealers price their boats differently, so you can either save thousands of dollars and/or get the exact boat you were looking for by widening your area that you are willing to cover.I am only 28 years old, but I just bought my 7th boat in December, so Ive learned a lot about the financial side of owning a boat, most of those lessons were learned the hard way. I dont have children yet, and Im still in the process of convincing the fiance that bass boats arent the devil LOL, but as long as owning a boat doesnt prevent you from providing for your family, or staying the course on long term financial goals, then there are far worse things to invest in!

I have apple red, and while I cant tell you the distinct difference, I can tell you that the hue changes a lot in different lighting. In low light or flourescent lighting, it appears darker to me, but in the bright sunlight it glows. Definitely cant miss it on the water!

Redngoo, I have been planning on purchasing the monitor since I bought the boat, just wanting to make some other purchases outside of fishing before doing so. Although the motor is covered by platinum warranty, I still like the idea of knowing exactly what the motor is doing while operating it.I cant see this one being off by more than 200 RPM at WOT, and would assume that it is closer as the RPM are lower. When I do make that purchase, it will be going in place of the speedo, as you did.

Love the colors! Is it rigged with a 225 or 250? I didnt see it in the ad.

I think anytime you have a motor rigged to a boat that isnt original equipment, it raises a few questions. Sometimes low hours scare me more than moderate hours. I dont think 2-strokes do well with sitting for long periods unless properly maintained. Sounds stupid, but I would make sure it isnt the extra long shaft, being that its a salt water model. A guy I know learned that the hard way, buying a boat before looking at it in person.
