    Gary,Thanks for the response. I just received my new (4 blade 26″ Trophy Plus) prop and I will try it this weekend. When you say ” holes completely plugged”, does this mean there is no small hole in the midddle od the plug? The large vent plugs I ordered have a small hole in the middle. I am close , I am sure to getting it right! Thanks for your input. Hope you are enjoying this great boat like I am! Don

    I have two 26″ trophy plus props: (1) new condition used a little and (1) used a little more in good condition; Neither prop has any dings or is worn or dulled; Neither has been re-worked; Never hit anything with either; I used both while trying to get my PUMA dialed in; Both have less than 100 hours on them and probably around fifty; Will sell either or both; make a resonable offer and we can make arrangements via e-mail; Don

    Thanks Joey; What differentiates a blue printed prop from a regular one? And how can you tell by looking at the prop; also should the edge be sharp?

    Is that a three blade and how much has it been used? Also has it been reconditioned?

    Thanks Joey & Gabe for all of your input; this helps alot and dittos to Gabe for looking forward to learning a bunch more from this great sight; despite how long many of us have been fishing (for me it is 30 plus years) I still do not know jack about the mechanics of stuff with boats and props; just enogh to be dangerous! ha! Ha! I sure had great performance on my Puma w/225HP Opti with this 3 blade 25″ Tempest prop vs. the 26″ Trophy Plus four blade that I had trouble getting out of the hole with! The motor even sounds better;

    Sab, Go to Advanced Fishing technologies website @ http://www.propakchargers.com and either e-mail or call Rick Stanfield. He helped me when I was having difficultys with a Pro-Pak III; it happened to be a bad battery as well as a bad circuit; Huis service is excellent and he is very willing to assist with a diagnosis. Hope this helps- Don

    I have had great luck catching fish and the spinnerbaits holding up pretty well with NIchols Spinnerbaits out of Texas; they make what they call a pulsator that has great vibration and catches big fish! Don

    As Mike said the hulls are the same; the only other consideration would be the actual weight displacement difference of the location of the tanks on the Puma vs. the Cougar FTD; I have a Puma and the big single 30 gal tank is more forward with the two rear 11 gal saddle tanks; I believe the Cougar has the two tanks in the rear? Thus more weight in the rear and usually this makes the hull ride a little different ( maybe quicker) but the Puma may be slightly slower but more comfortable in rough water; but from what I have been told there is so slight of a difference it does not really matter much; it is personal preference; I like the layout of the Puma; it is each persons choice; both are phenonimal boats! Most of the pros are running the Cougar FTD I believe; Don

    Hi Shef, Thank you for your respons. The night before I got the boat out of storage I had put the battery on charge overnight, but that is a good idea you have to check the voltage, and I will. I didnt think it was that as the power trim seemed to work fine. I also had topped off both grease fittings on plate. But I will check. Thanks again.

    Phil,I may have mis-stated what the installer told me as far as which holes, but he has been a certified Mercury mechanic for over 30 years, and has built and raced boats himself so his credibility is good. I would go with your idea that the plate was a defect. I am not sure what you mean about my old plate being 4″? I measured plate to be front to back around 7″. I may be not measuring properly. After going out into the garage and looking at the plate, Phil, the two holes the installer avoided and couldnt mount were the two middle holes. So he used top two and bottom two of existing 6. I had talked with Seastar about the re-designed Detwiler, but decided to stay home with BCB and getting the plate from them to avoid what happened. I assume the bolt pattern on boat was right (my 2nd Puma and Detwiler plate). I am somewhat isolated from a local dealer (closest 21/2 to 3 hours away), and the dealer I got the boat from was a different one and is out of business. I agree with Dr. DRE that the installer should have called me. I never intended with this post to cast any negative toward BCB, as I have learned the plate could have been a bad apple, but I still have a situation I need to resolve and a boat I need to use in my fishing guide business.BCB, if the plate was defective or drilled wrong is there a fix for this situation through my distant dealer? Whether drilled by installer or not, if the original plate wasnt right can you address? The good news is at least the boat wasnt drilled!As far as my questions above any feedback? Is current install strong? Recommended engine height to be able to fully use plate range?

    Thank you for your feedback Phil, as always. I bought the Atlas from BCB which is their custom 6 bolt vs. Atlas normal 4. I agree that the installer should have called me, as I mentioned earlier. The holes, I assume based on color of holes on inside of boat transom, were filled in with the black sealant I purchased when I bought the plate. It is mounted on boat now but motor is, I think too high based on my short first trip out ( third hole down from top of J bracket on motor). I can go on plane with plate all the way down but when I start to raise it I go below 12lbs water psi..If BCB will work with me if plate is defective, I may forego original installer and travel the 3 hour trip to my closest BCB dealer to have them change it out. These problems can create stress especially like in my case when losing quite a bit of business while down. I appreciate your help.
