On my 2000 Sabre I had the same clearance issue. I pulled the cranking battery and box, removed the “cage” for the oil tank. Then pushed the oil tank over towards the center of the boat. Removed the screws in the brackets holding the tank to the boat. I then pushed the gas tank to the corner where the cranking battery was located. This gave me just enough clearance to remove the pump. Hope this helps……….BTW since youre there, I would change all the pumps located under the tank.

I believe the mounting holes on the talon bracket are 1/2″ diameter. The bolts in the slidemaster are probably 3/4″.Therefore, to mount to the side of the jack plate you would need to drill out the 1/2″ in holes in bracket to accomodate the 3/4″. Any modification to the bracket would void any possibilty of returning if it doesnt work. I imigine MinnKota is going to tell you to use the sandwich bracket and mount between the transom/jackplate or jackplate/ motor.
