I use it to cover my garage kept PIV in hotel parking lots and what not. I have trailered with the “Ratchet Tite” cover round trip from Memphis to Toho one time and Memphis to Maine twice and its still in good shape. IMO – Pros – its cheap, its durable, its light, its a reasonable fit, and its waterproof. Cons – the straps are too lightweight (purchase extras because they break) and the straps leave a black splotch on my pretty white hull. The splotches buff out, but i still dont like that and tend not to trailer with the cover on due to the marks. That said, I had an Aurora cover on my first Pantera. The Aurora is far superior in every way but it cost 3-4 times as much.

Why go with the sandwich style? I have the bracket that mounts to the side of the jackplate and it works fine and was easy to install. I was advised on this board to go with the 9 inch setback for my PIV and am glad that I did. The 9 inch setback gives you a little room between the bracket and the hull itself so I can get in behind it and clean the scum line etc… All in all I am very happy with the Talon.

I fish Sardis, Enid and Grenada a few times a year each and I prefer Enid. The graph shows Enid at full pool currently so it should be fairly safe to run around there. One place I would avoid is Tunica Cutoff…the fishing there has been terrible in recent years IMO.

I have had 5 blow outs with Cooper Cobras over the past few years. I replaced them with GY Endurance 65psi 205/75/15. So far so good. Maybe should have gone with the 80psi 225s but was apprehensive due to the larger size. Looking back there is enough room under the fenders. 205s have served me well so far, but if I had it to do over again I would indeed choose the 225s for the extra carrying capacity. Next time…

I own a lightly used and garage kept 2008 Pantera IV with 200HP Opti that runs great.  I am going to list it for sale but have not done so yet.  My hold-up is I cannot find a shop that can pull hours off the engine in a timely manner (12 weeks minimum to get it into any of the shops around me – Lakeland, TN).  901-331-1969 – John – if you wanna talk.

No problem.  Holler if you change your mind – PIV is pretty close in size (19’5″) to the Classic or PII but with more storage and a better ride.  Thanks!
