Thanks for the interest, von. You have a very good point. It can be a lot of money for most people, but maybe youre not really aware of or havent thought very much about what goes into buying or selling an used boat. Further, typically, one of those boat/motor check-ups will run you $100 or less, and you can actually get it done for free at a certain marine specialist in North Texas (God bless this great country and the very limited few and awesome boat dealers/specialists that are still around, which very well includes this fantastic company, Basscat!!!). That is for the peace of mind for “the buyer” so he or she has the best idea of what he or she is getting. Generally, serious buyers would want to do this and it is an encouraged practice anytime one thinks about purchasing anything used – you want an expert to check it out. I would suggest you do the same if you ever need to purchase an used boat or any other vehicle. Um, one additional thought… maybe you havent read a lot of websites but its kinda not cool to rip someone elses post just because youve had the simple idea of not agreeing with what someones selling. Maybe you dont realize this, but as the seller, I actually kinda have the right to determine what Im going to sell, as well the terms of how Im going to do it. You dont have to agree with what Im doing, nor do you have to buy what Ive chosen to place on the market, let alone, like the way Ive chosen to engage in this process.A good evening to you, though. Hopefully you get into your dream cat someday.Last edited by Toadhunter on April 22nd, 2010, 1:13 am, edited 1 time in total.

LA Elwood wrote:Not trying to stir the pot but how old are the pics???? you have a Johnson trolling motor on the boat and MK Maxuim 74 listed in the ad. I also think that it would be wise to have the motor compression checked and in top working order before trying to sell. IMHOGood looking boatElwoodGood suggestions. The pixs from when I first bought the boat. I dont have any current pixs but will take more this weekend. Yes, Ill check the compression and list the numbers this weekend, But really, Im not going to fix anything before I sell it. I dont want to put any more money into the boat. Im just going to be as honest as I can about everything related to the boat/motor/trailers condition and let the buyer decide if its something he wants or not. Thanks, tho.

Haha, yes, the pix is old, from when I first got the boat. I dont have any current pixs and thought Id just post something so interested buyers would have an idea of what the boat looks like. I will have new/current pixs up by the end of the weekend.

Curtis Ebbesmeyer, author of Flotsametrics, would have a field day with that…

Thanks. Those boats arent exactly what Im looking for. Not interested in Classics, too, unless its an unbelievable deal.

I tell this to everyone whos looking for the same thing you are. Go get a Cabelas brand cover. They make fantastic covers that do exactly what youre looking in a cover in the $150-220 range. And considering those covers come with a 10 year warranty…. thats a pretty good deal. Ive had three of those covers and theyve been great.

The classic with a 200 opti would be my choice if I didnt want to spend the extra $$$ on the PII. The sabre feels and fishes a lot smaller than the classic does and once your family gets bigger youll really appreciate the added space the classic offers. The classic with a 150 will not be ast fun or enjoyable to drive as one that has a 200 on it – you might not notice it at first but it will be especially noticeable after you ride in someone elses classic with a 200 and realize the type of performance it offers. All in all, getting the 200 as opposed to the 150 might actually just make your monthly payments higher by only $20 or $30… maybe even less – probably wouldnt be that much and as said above, you will have a much easier time selling the boat when the time comes to do that.

I keep on mentioning this cover to everyone who wants an “economical” cover. Take a look at Cabelas covers – those are the best covers for the money Ive come across especially if the prioritys to use it as a dust cover. Its advertised as a towing cover, too but I have no idea how well it does in that regard because Ive never towed with the cover on.Anyhoo, those covers run in the $175-250 range and come with a 10 year warranty, which really cant be beat considering the quality of the cover and the warranty.

A lot of those black boats definitely look awesome, but every time I look at a boat that has a black top cap, I cringe slightly. Those boats get hot, hot hot.

That usually happens when youve got your trailer in too deep to start with. The Classic can definitely be a very interesting boat to load on some ramps, especially when youre by yourself!
