First of all I just want to say thanks for everyones input so far. Ok so last year I had the spark plugs, fuel filter, water pump etc replaced. I dont know anything about upgrading the spark plugs. The work was done at Mungenast Marine at lake of Ozarks. I use xd-100 synthetic oil and had been using ring free as the fuel additive. Im currently using Startron enzyme fuel treatment. When the boat was brand new the trophy prop that was on there was over 6200 on rpms so Ivan swapped me for the 28 trophy. When we ran it with two guys and without my fishing tackle and empty livewells it was alright. Id still say slow to take off but not that big of a deal when you have plenty of deep water and no weeds to bog you down. I would say the boat operates now essentially like it did before. If I lighten the boat some Im sure Ill run in the 5800-6000 rpm range with the 28p trophy which is the only prop I have currently. Fully loaded is a little different story and even more complicated by the shallow lakes here. I didnt run the boat much last year as it was for sale… A hard thing to do.. But had gotten away from fishing… Anyway Im back now . I think a 25p fury would be to little of a pitch and Id be over my rpms for sure. I wish I could remember what pitch that first trophy I had was… Maybe its on the original sale tag… Ill have to look. Ok I think I answered your questions. Oh and a water seperator? Is that necessary? I want to protect the motor as much as possible as I didnt get their extended 7 yr warranty… Some big paperwork mess there, gave up on that after 2 yrs of trying to get it fixed… Something to do with Osage beach Mungenast not being authorized Evinrude dealer ( no warranty or rebate). Though Mungenast has said they would cover the motor themselves, Id rather not put that to the test with me being down in Florida now. Anyway thats a whole other topic. Im just looking for the best prop to get me up on plane in the shallow water here. Last edited by dlivings4433 on September 28th, 2010, 4:27 am, edited 3 times in total.

Seems like the Fury is the favorite over the Trophy plus.

Martys is where I bought my first BassCat boat (first boat of any kind for me). Caught them just before closing on a cold rainy spring Sunday. It was the first boat (new or used) I looked at that didnt fall apart while checking it out. I put money down on it that day, went back the next weekend to test drive and bought it. Do you give any consideration to the weight distribution in the boat? What about the hydraulic jack plate? Is it a good idea to raise it up on take off? Or even raising it up before coming off pad (or do you leave motor trimmed up?)Ill try the hard right turn trick and see how that works, before with my other prop I tried that once, but it just made it harder for the boat to get out of the hole. I had heard about turning to the right before, but after trying it figured I must of heard wrong.

I turn 6000 rpms at 74.5 or 74.6 mph fully loaded and 2 guys. No vent plugs work best. I did consider 4 blade prop but went with the fury. My question though isnt really about propping the boat, but the other physical factors that we can change to improve starting, running, and stopping, in shallow water. Ie weight distribution, motor height on take off and stopping to run in the shallowest (in other words the safest way) water to avoid bottoming the boat out. Lets say you have two identical boats, load one with the weight all in back, the other with all the weight up front, does this make a difference on take off? (will it take off more level? Or not). Same scenario when coming to a stop (does the butt end sink down more when shutting it down if all the weight is in the back?). Or is the difference so little that it doesnt matter? Then what about the hydrolic jackplate, higher up on take off and shut down? And trim… I understand all the way down, and have heard of starting to trim up when taking off to get on plane faster. On coming to a stop, do you trim all the way down? Or most of the way or just part. Maybe Im just over thinking this. . Wouldnt be concerned if I was still in MO. I cant tell you how surprised I was fishing BFL first time on Okeechobee making 40 min run 60-70 mph in 3 foot or less of water watching boats throw up mud. Just glad I wasnt driving.Last edited by dlivings4433 on October 30th, 2010, 11:03 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I have the navionics hotmap south on my LMS 480. I cant say Im too impressed. The borders for the outline of the lake are very hard to see especially compared to previous map system (I think called global map US). The 1 foot contour lines I thought would be very useful, but I find that you have to zoom in so much to see them generated on the map that Im not able to put them into context with the surrounding area. I didnt find it very useful either while driving as the depths are hard to see. I liked the app they made for the iPhone better as Im actually able to see a larger area with the 1 foot contour lines, but still small (I would love to see a full paper map of entire lake drawn with 1 foot lines). I heard that next spring there is something coming out for the computer system which might allow a larger viewing area while showing more detail. I dont know if other lowarance units do better with showing information than mine does?Last edited by dlivings4433 on October 28th, 2010, 5:05 pm, edited 1 time in total.

2005 Puma dual console with 225 Evinrude HO 26p Fury, 101lbs thrust trolling moter, 4 battery set up. Holeshot is about 6 sec. With full gear, 50 gallons gas, full live wells and just me in boat. Water temp in 80s, my top end is at 74.7 mph at 5900-6000 rpm.

I took the rear seat out and tried it that way too, Im not sure if its supposed to fit with the rear seat in or not. I spoke with Arora covers today and will be sending them the pics also so they can address the issues. They think it may not fit due to my boat having the squared windshields vs the more rounded ones. I did play with the cam buckles a little more with rolling and unrolling the cover. It seems that once your past the windshields as your putting the cover on, you really have to watch for the buckles, especially if you leave the rear seat in and try to lift and toss the cover over it. Yeah I figured it should be tight, but its not even close to reaching. I pulled hard and was afraid of busting a windshield and it was still way short of making the corner or the other side of the boat below the rub rail…. not to mention the boarding ladder. Taking the photos there was no practical way to pull it tight without having 3 or 4 guys to hold each edge (2 in back and 2 on each side) as you pull it as it doesnt hook on anything except barely on the drivers side corner. Kind of felt like some comedy joke as I pulled one side the other came off. My thought is even if the cover fits tight, it should still at least reach the rub rail without to much effort, and then cam buckles pulls it snug under the railing which is what prevents it from coming off. You can see the one side makes it, but not the other. I actually had a friend come out today who makes these to make sure I wasnt doing anything wrong. FYI he said the pricing on the cover was very good.Last edited by dlivings4433 on September 26th, 2012, 2:34 am, edited 1 time in total.

Didnt really make as much difference as you might think with the seat in or out. With my previous cover you could leave both seats in. Heres another view with the seat out. Even with the seat out the drivers side corner will barely hook, but the rest of the cover doesnt pull down over the rub rail as it approaches the motor, and none of the cover reaches on the passenger side. Im sure they will get it right with some time, maybe I need to take a road trip back to my home state so they can measure it….. (aka fishing trip)? Ill be sure to repost some pics when we get it all worked out. Last edited by dlivings4433 on September 26th, 2012, 2:56 am, edited 2 times in total.

Got the redone Sunbrella cover but its still not quite fitting. Its just a few inches short in the middle section. Im wondering if anyone using this style of cover has had it out in a heavy rain? Granted mine doesnt fit exactly when I played with it, but Im wondering when it rains if there has been any issue with pooling of water in the front or aft sections. My old cover with the tie downs would still pool if it didnt have the butt seat in the forward hole, if the seat was in the middle, water would pool in the forward area on the drivers side. Ive emailed Aurora about the fit, but Im thinking this style of cover may not be the best option for me, storing the boat outside and having to hold up to hurricane force winds at times here in Florida. I guess Im wondering at this time if Im not better off having someone local make me a custom cover, as Ive already spent about 4 months getting this cover and my other one is falling apart. I like the designs Aurora has on their website, however Im concerned now that I may not get quite the right fit with a regular style cover too……..

I used to stay at the Travel Lodge just south of PB2, they have parking areas and power for the boat. If I really wanted to go cheap (around $35/night), I stayed at the KOA campground off of hwy 42 and rented one of their camping cabins which has air conditioner, power, and small TV. I just ran an extension cord out to the boat.

Thanks for the suggestions. Ill talk to my mechanic here about it some more. I think at this point Im much more concerned about running in the weeds than the fastest possible top speed (tired of climbing to the back of the boat with a toilet brush to get it unclogged!). I was told though that it would be highly unlikely to get the M2 in a rebuild. PS Ive been running a 27p Fury Last edited by dlivings4433 on August 8th, 2014, 1:52 am, edited 2 times in total.
