Safest truck on the road is a Volvo, Those pre-emission engines are hot! The new twin turbos are really getting a bad rap. I think going with the cummins is great move. You going to go with a 389 or 387? Owing a truck for a lifetime is really the only way to really get your money out of it! I wish more people did more preventative maintaince at shorter invertals rather than pushing the limits to 25k or 30k! I live in Ohio now, previously Atlanta for a year then dallas for quite a few. It has happend at 3 different lakes here. Ill give the quick launch a try but seems like a co-angler might not be able to handle such a manuever. I thought about making a plate of some sort and carpet it and put it over the tire to protect it.

currently my top end runs 69-72 with about 1/2 full gas & livewells with a few green heads. Some days its 71-72 all day, some days its 69 at best. add a partner and his stuff i go 68-70. hole shot is just fine.
