LOL Gary…….lots of good jerkbaits out there. For the shallow stuff, I really like the X rap over the pointers…… The ito110 is awesome. One overlooked bait is the staycee by LC……my biggest smallie (6- came on that in the American Shad color. If you are getting jiggy wit it….some other brands to try include: evergreen,Bells, river2sea, Duel, Zenith, OSP and Jackall. I think the best value in all of these is the river2sea GGG PS, Eric, you are sick man! When are you going again? can I send my order with you lol?

Rick said a mouthfull there RE: Dobyns and Powell……. From what i saw, the Powell rods were good rods. the Dobyns are pretty solid and well built for the price. They are not the lightest but they are well balanced and I do like the blank actions. Leaving out the fishing world business politics…….you will be happy with either rod. Personally, I would opt for the Dobyns. You might also check out the BCB rods, the Cumaras and the Crucials…… GGG

Pick your brand, they will all have applicable rods. match them against the SC Avid 70 MF and the Rogue MB 704……they have the proper actions that Rick described. In actuality, any fast action worm rod that is rated say 10-17# or 12-20# line will work. Most will be med or MH powers. ou can throw the 4″ to 6″ on these rods with ease…..I would absolutely opt for a rod 610- 74″ or so. I am using currently (any will work) a custom SC Legend Elite 5c70MF 7 M FAST 1 10-17 1/4-3/4, custom SC Avid 3c70MF 7 M FAST 1 10-17 1/4-5/8 and a custom Rogue MB704 70 ” 1 8-17 Ľ-3/4 oz MED-HVY FAST . these are all split grip, no foregrip rods with spiral wraps. Lots of rods work…..dont try to over analyze or over specialize (as I did in the past). ……..your senko rods will pull double duty as a light jig rod, wacky worm rod, texas rig rod and so forth GGG PS, Mike W can attest that I have thrown a senko once or twice LOL……Last edited by gggjr on January 8th, 2008, 3:35 pm, edited 1 time in total.

As Pat Goff will tell anyone……..its the Indian not the arrow. I can personally attest to this mantra…… Each boats has it attributes, some cut better, some land better, some roll over waves, some cut through waves, some are more solid, some are more stable riding and some handle better. Most drivers point and shoot and run too fast for conditions when its rough………. Earle…..tell your buddy to ride with someone who knows how to drive. This is from a guy that has run a Champ 206 and a Puma in the great lakes. The Basscat is not his Champion, it is different and those differences have to be understood. GGG
